The Good Wife: Season 5, Episode 7 - The Next Week

Welcome to The Good Pod,

where today we're talking The Good Wife,

season five, episode seven, the next week.

I am one of your hosts, Jason Reed.

With me, as always, Marissa Garza.

Marissa, is your green light on?

No.

I mean, yes, actually.

Okay.

Yeah, I was like, no.

also are you good are you good are

you good yeah i'm good are you good

i'm good is your green light on my

green light's on okay for the moment i'm

meaning for everyone to see me right now

as i as i am doing things uh

if you weren't paranoid about uh hacking

shanigans if you saw this episode you

Well,

those were the days when the green light

would go on.

Now,

they could do that without turning the

green light on.

Okay, so stop scaring me.

Stop scaring me.

Yeah, also, before we get started,

I have a concern that I want to

bring up.

The other... Yeah,

last episode with our friend Richard Kind,

I...

I said some some unkind things about

Richard Karn.

And I would just like to say,

for anyone listening out there,

especially Richard Karn, Richard Karn,

I have no beef with you, sir.

Please stop stalking me.

Okay.

Ever since we talked about Richard Karn,

I have been seeing it.

Stop saying his name.

You know what I need to do?

I need to turn my phone off as

I'm doing it because that's what's doing

it.

I said Richard Karn so much that my

phone is feeding me Richard Karn stuff,

okay?

So first of all, I...

Like the day after that,

I listened to a podcast.

You know what the freaking ad is before

the podcast?

It's a podcast.

It's an ad featuring Richard Karn.

I forgot what it was.

RK.

Just call him RK.

Featuring RK.

Okay.

I forgot what he was hawking,

but he was on that thing.

Okay.

And then a couple days later.

mean i'm working because for those that

don't know i work in retail i work

at different retail establishments i'm in

a walmart and what do i see the

freaking pocket hose advertised by art i'm

saying it's i'm saying it softly so that

my phone doesn't hear so advertised by

arcade it's a whole palette display and i

said i said to marissa i said

i've told her every time it happened

except for one it happened again yesterday

i'm on facebook minding my own business

and for some reason facebook decided to

push to me something called steel con i'm

assuming is in pittsburgh a con a

convention for people i don't know i

assume it's in like pittsburgh or

something and you know what you know who's

featured in this photo in steel con

It's a freaking home improvement reunion

with RK and the mom from that show

and the hot tool time lady.

I forgot what her name was.

Pamela Anderson?

No, not her.

The other one.

The one that took over for Pam Anderson

at some point.

uh i was like oh my like sir

please stop stalking me okay i'm sorry

that i besmirched your name that i said

what your kind was better than you i'm

sorry so sucky please leave me alone wrong

leave me be karn leave me be so

i text marissa every time it happens leave

me be karn

Okay, Patricia Richardson, the mom.

Do you know why the show ended of

Home Improvement?

Do you know about the story?

Is it because the mom was getting paid

like Tim Allen or something?

Yeah, that was it.

She demanded equal pay and they were like,

well,

we might as well just cancel the show.

Tim Allen was like,

because that's what he does.

Although,

it would be interesting if RK had a

different take on that.

We don't know.

We're not sure.

Are him and Tim Allen friends?

Are they not friends?

Because Tim Allen has got some... Yeah,

he's got his own issues.

Some controversial opinions,

we'll just say that.

So, yeah, I don't know.

If RK is against TA,

then maybe I can take some stock.

But it's unsettling for me that I started

talking about RK on this podcast and he

just started popping up everywhere

afterwards.

Yeah.

Leave me be, Karn.

Leave me be.

Anyway,

I just need to get that off my

chest.

I feel like the people that listen to

this podcast would appreciate that

experience I've been going through since

we talked about it last episode.

But let's, you know,

we'll start getting to the episode proper.

But before we do,

Now, that's all the way, Marissa.

Let's get into the episode.

let's do this uh come on i end

up saying italian in spanish but this

episode starts with a guy driving a car

trying to learn italian is how are you

how are you doing what's going on uh

and let me tell you something i'm not

doing well because listen

When you see this guy on this show,

for those of you that know, you know.

If you know, you know.

It's kind of a if you know,

you know.

If you don't know, just keep watching.

Just wait.

Just wait.

Just keep watching.

Just keep watching.

Let's just say this episode is not the

only time we'll see this gentleman on this

show.

If you know, you know.

So I was like, oh my God,

is it time?

Is this it?

And so I was living, you know,

I was going through things.

He was having a moment.

He was having a moment.

I was going through things during this

whole episode.

I was like, this isn't the time, right?

This is not time yet, right?

It's not time yet, right?

We should say that you were having a

moment because you did go ahead and you

did watch ahead of time.

a little bit.

Well, yes.

That was your original freak out moment.

I just wanted to get that on the

record.

Because this was not intentional.

But the episode did autoplay after last

episode.

You can turn autoplay off.

It's called protection.

Yeah,

but when I'm actually wanting to watch

something,

I still want the autoplay going.

So I did end up seeing one second

of this episode and saw this guy.

I was like, oh my god.

So, again, if you know... If you know,

you know.

If you know, you know.

But right now, Jason, right now,

this guy... Right now.

He's just trying to learn Italian, okay?

He's driving.

He's just trying to learn Italian.

He gets pulled over by the cops,

and he's like, listen,

I was just doing .

I don't know what I could be pulled

over for.

And in typical cop fashion,

they're like...

Is that alcohol?

Is that alcohol in your breath?

Oh, would you like to come in?

Or are you willing to do a breathalyzer?

And he's like, yeah, okay.

And the cop's like, oh, shucks.

We don't have one in the car.

You're going to have to come to the

station.

Ain't those funny?

A cab, a hundred percent.

Like, this is ridiculous.

It was funny.

I could see someone in the car.

I could not make out who it was.

I could see someone else in the patrol

car behind them.

I was like, who is that?

We'll find out.

We'll find out in a bit.

He was like, you know what?

I left my breathalyzer in my other pants.

You're going to need to come to the

station.

Aw, shucks.

Back at Lockhart Gardner,

Diane is being welcomed back with open

arms after everything that has gone down

in the conference room.

They're congratulating her,

but we also hear that there is a

malpractice suit happening.

And there's also been a directive by,

I'm assuming,

Will and Diane for the receptionist to

tell them anytime someone calls for Alicia

or mentions Alicia or anything with

Alicia.

So a phone call comes in.

it's the guy in the car whose name

is Jeffrey Grant he calls and he's like

hey I need a lawyer basically so she

wasn't well he says I need Alicia yeah

yeah he calls for Alicia like where's

Alicia give me Alicia they're like oh

Alicia oh so she runs into the conference

room and I would say it was hilarious

because Will and Diane are there and then

David Lee like again David Lee is super

annoying but he's also very comedic he's

just like

behind them,

like I'm also here and also me.

Don't I rate?

We learn from Diane that Jeffrey is the

son of a client, Grant Real Estate.

Alicia handled the case before.

That's why he must be calling.

And she's like,

we don't want to lose him.

Will's like, I'm on it.

This is mine.

I'm going to take it.

And he marches over to get on the

phone with Jeffrey.

And Jeffrey's like, listen,

I've been waiting an hour for a

breathalyzer.

And while he's on the phone,

he looks into the conference room.

David and Howard are fighting.

And

like i'll be right there like i don't

have time for this well he also like

he also goes into the room he's like

hey yeah you all need to stop freaking

fighting we're in this together like we

move together we act together we work

together as a team well and that was

like right before so david lee was

basically saying i bring more money into

this firm than anybody else and

and bull goes in there and says move

together act together and david lee's like

yep that's all i want i just want

to i just want to act together yeah

you're right because he basically said get

with it or leave like you can well

you could do this or you can see

yourself out and david is saying this

because we find out later david is kind

of on the hook for this for this

malpractice suit he's like yeah yeah we we

do this together so if i have to

pay anything we pay it all together right

not just me because we're all in this

together right

It's like genuinely high school musical

back here.

And so Will's on his way out.

He's like, Diane, you got this.

So Diane does her like,

let me explain to you and the audience

what is happening.

She says we are being sued for a

malpractice case from the Gopnik failed

adoption for six million dollars.

What happened was there was a.

finding that the biological father is

one-eighth Chippewa,

which gave the tribe an opportunity to

have a say in this case.

And so they're like, did we know this?

What's going on?

Who signed off on this?

None other than Alicia Florek.

So cut to Floric Agos and Associates,

a.k.a.

Alicia's office or Alicia's apartment.

It's chaos over there.

They're still talking about office space,

still trying to figure these things out

while basically walking through.

I don't know why Zach was in his

mom's room, to be quite honest,

but he ends up in his mom's room

and he finds out.

First of all,

I didn't know that she had an iMac

in her house.

in her uh room but she does she

has this computer in her room and he

notices that the green light is on on

alicia's computer this place is chock full

of computers first of all oh yeah after

like we only have one computer and it

has to be in the living room and

you have to because we don't want you

looking at porn zach um but now they're

everywhere

think he was going to the bathroom through

alicia's room because i think i remember

in the last episode they like messed up

the kids toilet like so now alicia's

toilet is the only toilet that works so

i think that's why he was going through

her room okay okay i i had to

think about it too i was like why

is he because i thought he was going

to his room and then we finally like

oh it's alicia's room like why are you

going through alicia's room it's like oh

yeah she has the bathroom

that uh he doesn't know that his parents

after on the toilet and at this point

alicia is like doing her best like we

got the will speech of we move together

we act together we're all one team and

now we've got the alicia like

This is how Stern Lockhart started.

This is going to make us better.

We're going to have to do all this.

And as she does that,

there's a knock at the door.

And who is it?

None other than our favorite process

server.

Yeah,

process server with a deposition for her

for a malpractice case.

And Carrie's like, they're getting like,

are they seeing this?

We should sit back.

She's like, no, they're getting sued.

And I'm a witness.

And I think in this moment, she says,

ooh, I got them over a barrel.

Let's go.

They need my help.

uh will arrives at the police department

he's like oh suddenly i've been doing my

homework which is like very kind of rare

for will like he's he it's not that

he doesn't do his homework but usually

he's like so confident in himself that he

doesn't do it but i think you i

think you misunderstood i think he's he's

commenting on what's his face jeffrey

doing his homework oh oh he's like oh

you're doing homework huh yeah what are

you doing your homework for well like what

are you talking about

um and he notices while he's there that

geneva is already that because he's like

hold on let me just like go get

you out of this and then he looks

and he's like it's geneva it's geneva pine

you know i looked at some geneva pine

do we need some geneva pine music actually

hit him hit him with the feet and

the ducks

That was Feeding the Ducks.

We've been researching the StreamYard

soundboard, y'all.

We found some weird things.

Play Feeding the Ducks again.

Play it for them again.

This is Feeding the Ducks.

Feeding the Ducks.

It's the best one in this entire pantheon

of sounds that we have available,

which is like eight.

Right?

This fits Geneva.

Fits Geneva to a T. But again,

Feeding the Ducks.

How is this labeled?

Well,

because I think StreamYard is a duck,

but also, I don't know.

Is Feeding the Ducks some sexual innuendo

that I'm unaware of?

Because that's what goes with this music.

You can email us at thegoodpodfeedback at

gmail.com and let us know.

Come on, baby.

We're going to go feed the ducks right

now.

Like what?

Is that what that means?

What?

oh so Will originally is like let me

go take care of this use Geneva's there

take a step back and then he like

gets the lowdown from Jeffrey around

what's going on and he's like what did

the patrolman say and he's like well we're

gonna need this breathalyzer and oh yeah

Geneva that lady over there she was in

the car with me and also they got

a cotton swab of my mouth

like and this is all like like like

red flags for will he's like this is

this should not be happening what the yeah

it's like hey hey my guy you probably

should have mentioned that as soon as i

got here like why are you bearing the

lead like oh oh yeah and you know

what they had me sign a statement they

had me sign a confession they had me

swear under oath that i did whatever it

was they wanted me to do like sir

like this is

not cool it's like it's like oh yeah

they got like for some reason took my

dna like you think that was important to

mention before now well and then like his

next quiz like have you been arrested for

anything ever like what is what at this

point at this point we'll see through this

whole thing it's like okay you were you

were like bogusly pulled over to for

because there's something else going on

with you so so what what are your

other issues like oh no i got nothing

i got nothing if geneva's here we got

problems

Yeah, and Geneva's like, yeah,

he's arrested for drinking and driving.

So he goes back over to Jeffrey and

he's like, look, they got us for now,

but we're going to fight this.

So the next time we see them,

they're in court.

Important to note, before Will leaves,

he's like,

so you're going to get arrested.

Oh, breathe into this.

I'm going to breathe into this.

That should have been my message board.

Breathe into this.

and he basically has a pocket breathalyzer

so he brings this up in court in

front of the judge and says like the

legal limit in illinois is point zero

eight my clients level on this pocket

breathalyzer like this whole excuse of not

having a breathalyzer in the car is a

little facetious because i have a pocket

one right here and his level is point

zero zero zero zero one and the george

the judge is like that's

a lot of zeros i i call this

judge normal guy yeah definitely normal

judge blue collar yeah at this point she

was like basically like oops so sorry did

i do that wait what we're gonna let

the charges go and will's like yeah you

are and you're gonna destroy that dna she

was like that

about that the dna does have a match

to a murder on a campus that jeffrey

goes to of a college that um jeffrey

goes to and it's a familial hit so

it could basically be anyone in his family

and was like that's not enough to hold

him but the judge says listen we're gonna

hold him until you can charge him and

you have forty eight hours to charge him

so that's where we're kind of at

yeah and it's interesting because you know

the reason that Jeffrey has was targeted

the way he was is because the dad

got arrested for assault which is the case

that Alicia got him out of and so

because he was arrested and charged the

dad had to give his DNA and through

that

that matched the dna found at this the

murder scene of this danny person and it

was a familial hit so it's like oh

a guy in this family committed this murder

and just so happens a guy in his

family goes to the same college as this

girl so bada bing bada boom they're like

all right we gotta

we got to hold and we have to

charge him in order to actually test the

dna to get like to to get make

sure that jeffrey is a match so for

now we we can't like concretely prove that

he was one that that killed this person

but we have to like geneve's gonna have

to charge him officially because he's not

charged officially right now uh in order

to get to get a dna test yeah

he's just being held

alicia arrives back at lockhart gardner um

and she she is like she's feeling good

she's feeling good about herself the

receptionist is like oh i gotta go let

me go run front and she's like i'm

just gonna walk through here she owns the

place she's just reveling in her power

right now like i am i'm freaking all

y'all out because y'all i was i was

a big bad witch here the other day

you know i'm just like because everybody's

like everybody sees you like ducks out of

the way like oh my god it's alicia

run

who has moved into alicia's office after

he has cleared it of brimstone as he

says why because you would assume that

means alicia had a better office than

david i was like why would that be

the case i think david's office was not

as close because they think he's becoming

more of a name well we're gonna try

to become a name partner like he's getting

closer to will and diane that's the only

reason i think why he moved

but um and then alicia sees diane and

diane goes mrs florick and alicia says

miss lockhart i also love when uh when

she scores off of david she's like i

really hurt you haven't i that gave me

chills i was like oh my god yeah

that was good

So,

they're sitting in the conference room

kind of discussing what this testimony is

going to be and I love like David

is so petty,

so petty he only brings water for for

Diane and himself,

not for Alicia and he like there's a

file in between them and so Alicia goes

to like reach for it and David's

whaps it away from her basically like no

um they do you talk about that this

is the gopnik adoption she did find out

that the doctor was one eath chippewa and

so the tribe had to say and alicia's

like yes i knew that and they're asked

they ask her like yeah but like did

you tell the gopniks and this is where

alicia's like

Yeah, like so much has happened.

So much has happened.

I don't, you know,

like my financial responsibilities,

like it's like hard to remember,

like without my capital contribution of

one hundred and fifty thousand dollars,

it's just like really,

really hard to remember.

And Diane looks at her and says,

sometimes I look at you and wonder if

you changed or if you were always like

this.

And she says.

I had the best teachers in the world.

I couldn't help but change.

Again, chills.

And so basically, Dan's like,

so you're not going to help unless we

pay you.

And she's like, yeah, you pay me.

I'll help you.

She's like, what will your testimony be?

She's like, check first.

Run me my money now.

And at this point,

Diane can see it's just like she's got

us.

Like,

we have to do this because one hundred

fifty thousand dollars is a lot less than

six million dollars.

Then we see a scene over at Floric

Agos and Associates.

I put in my notes, Floric Gardner.

Oh, dreams.

We see Clark.

Clark is back.

Clark.

my buddy i was like oh my gosh

i did not honestly i did not remember

this i was like oh my god i

did not even i thought last time we

saw clark was last time we went to

see clark i was like oh my gosh

i like this he's back he is very

like bewildered at the sight of this um

law firm because he's greeted by grace at

the door and i should try to hit

on him when he answered the door like

hey how are you are you here for

the computers are you here for the firm

it's like oh i'm here for the firm

She's like, cool, huh?

And he's like, uh-huh.

So cool.

He basically delivers the news that the

financials aren't good.

You're basically billing on depositions,

which is not a sustainable way to do

it.

And it's expensive for you and your time.

So he suggests moving document review to

Bangalore, which is an outsourcing thing,

which was a very big topic at this

time.

You know what?

I was wondering if there's a deep cut

reference because he goes,

you're going to have to push all your

depots to Bangalore, India.

And Zeps goes, oh yeah,

I've heard about that.

Because he was the guy that was on

the sitcom outsourcing to India.

I was like, oh, y'all see that?

Did y'all caught that?

I was like, oh, I did.

That was a good catch.

I liked that joke.

That was a fun show.

is outsourcing's number one fan i will

reference it all the time uh so at

this point zach is seeing that like the

green light is happening other places so

she he goes and tells alicia about this

whole situation and then she's like okay

let's have conversations not by computers

and she tells carrie and clark what's

going on and they're like who would do

this like

diane do this she's like no but david

lee would and carrie's like let's use this

at first clark is like i know people

and and carrie's like no like let's use

this and clark of course is like this

is a firm you guys like not a

children's game like this is real this is

a real life situation that's happening but

they're so in it yeah you know you

don't get it you don't get it like

it's a thing between us and like our

gardener we do prank wars on each other

this is what we do like

We hate the other side.

We hate the other team.

Important to know,

this is where Zach gives her like the,

hey, you're being ratted.

Oh yeah, that's right.

Ratted.

Yeah.

I don't know.

Sometimes I'm like,

sometimes I think you're making up names

for things,

but I know remote access tool is like

a real thing, but I haven't heard.

That's what the kids are calling it,

Marissa.

Right, right, right, right.

What do I know?

Getting ratted, mom.

You're getting ratted.

I mean, all I've heard is glazed lately.

Oh, yes.

Glazed.

Aura.

Aura farming.

Aura farming.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So...

Kalinda, Will,

and Diane go meet with Jeffrey,

and Jeffrey's in jail, and he's like,

I never met this Danny person,

Danny Littlejohn?

Yes.

Yeah, Danny Littlejohn,

but there was a rumor that she was

sleeping with her professor,

and she had ketamine,

like she was using ketamine,

ketamine in her system.

kalinda automatically asked about the men

in in the family and he's like really

there's no one else except for one time

uncle jim dropped by to help with this

computer and so kalinda's gonna go check

that out will brings jeffrey his textbooks

and they chat about italy they're really

uh they're really bonding over italy there

They're bonded.

Who knew?

I did not know that Will had an

Italy fascination, curiosity.

I could see it.

I mean, I could see it,

but I just did not.

Kalinda walks out of there going,

this guy did it.

Like, there's no...

There's no way he didn't.

Diane says he did something,

but I'm not sure what it was.

Will says, I think he's just nervous.

Diane's like, I got to go.

And Will,

you don't want to know where I'm going

to.

But he is surprised that Alicia is going

to help.

He's like, oh, she's going to help us,

huh?

All right, Will.

Take it down a few notches.

And so now it's time for the deposition

with Alicia and Carter Schmidt.

Carter's back.

Carter's back.

also known as the guy hunter parish no

hunter parish is jeffrey oh yeah yeah okay

we could talk about him in a minute

but carter schmidt we've talked we've seen

before and have heard about before um he

is the accordion playing person who is the

other guy he's he's the guy okay so

back background guy

He is the Ellsworth guy, yes.

He's also the guy from,

it was season four at this point?

Yes, or late season four, where he helped,

well, he didn't help.

He was on the other side of this

case where there was the surrogate who

they didn't want to try to deliver.

Oh, that's right, that's right.

Yes.

That's right, with Donna.

Yes.

Yeah,

and they get referenced here as well

because Alicia's like,

how are the Eisen stats?

He goes, unhappy.

I'm like...

unhappy why like i wish you could have

gotten because we were wondering at the

end of that episode of like what's going

to happen with that baby like what's up

like right did the baby get delivered is

the baby healthy did the baby not go

to term like what happened we didn't

really get any other any other details

you're just like they're unhappy okay why

well it may have been a situation similar

to this where the uh like they didn't

get the baby

So he is deposing Alicia to talk about

this case.

And Alicia's like,

I just was the day-to-day person.

It was really like shuffling paper.

David Lee was the supervising attorney.

I just did all of the work, basically.

well she also well she also mentions the

fact that like other people were doing

other things yeah there were there were

people doing groundwork that i was just

kind of monitoring i didn't really do like

a lot of the grunt work other people

did some some of the grunt work including

anthony just like yes okay who i forgot

who he was until later this episode yeah

She does say that she told the couple

about the one eighth Chippewa and the

tribe wanting to get involved here,

but the couple decided to continue on with

the adoption.

At this point,

Carter Schmidt brings up the fact,

she's like,

oh yeah but didn't you recently leave i

mean oh maybe maybe you were pushed out

like i thought you want to be more

forthcoming about this firm that pushed

you out of your thing and then he

says to diane isn't there a german word

for that and she says like a word

which i am not gonna pretend to say

i'm gonna try it i'm gonna try it

it's uh um gesunder muffin which is like

why are we turning diane for german dot

words is this a comedic moment i have

no idea what's happening like is this in

the good wife universe is she known for

knowing german terms and phrases we just

don't he's never heard that part of her

At this point,

Alicia's given a piece of paper to read

from, doing that whole, like, read,

tell me what this piece of paper is.

And she says,

the check from the Lockhart Gardner

account for ten thousand dollars.

And Carter Schmidt says,

would it surprise you to learn that the

tribe basically thinks this was a bribe to

stop the tribe from being involved in

this?

And at this point, he keeps, like,

pressuring her, like,

maybe you want to say something about this

firm that kind of screwed you over.

And she doesn't give in.

Yeah.

Which I thought was interesting.

I was like... Well,

I don't think she knew...

she doesn't your money well it doesn't

matter like she got her money she should

have got her money already because she

wasn't she wasn't doing nothing until she

got that money so she got her money

but she's still and i don't i think

she's she's genuine the fact that she

didn't know about what this check was

she's like i had right i had no

idea what this is uh so she's a

little caught off guard right now so she's

like i hate you guys but i don't

know if i hate you enough to get

you a six million dollar lawsuit against

you i don't know i'm gonna play it

by ear

Meanwhile,

Will goes to catch up with Professor

Delaney,

the professor who was rumored to be

sleeping with Danny Littlejohn.

And basically,

Professor Delaney has no time for this.

He's on the phone.

He says to Will,

I was cleared of her murder.

Basically, goodbye.

Will turns like half a step.

And who's there?

None other than Owen.

very conveniently also at this university

and we learned that he's been named

professor of the month and has a lot

of frozen yogurt which i thought was

hilarious i thought also he was like it's

like uh also they call me professor

cavanaugh i was like oh i didn't know

i don't think i knew alicia's maiden name

until now so she could have been alicia

cavanaugh yeah she could have been she

could have been

Well, she was.

She definitely was for a period of her

life.

Yes.

If she followed through with some things.

Doesn't roll off the tongue like Alicia

Floring.

That's true.

Alicia Cavanaugh.

He...

It is revealed in the conversation that he

hasn't talked to Alicia,

so he does not know what's going on

with her and Will.

Because obviously,

Owen sees Will and is like,

oh my god,

my sister's one true love is here.

Mm-hmm.

let me talk to her so they go

into owen's office and talk about um the

rumors around professor delaney like

owen's kind of uncomfortable about it all

but he does reveal to will that professor

delaney had something called the b plus

club where he would invite people over to

his house anyone who had a b plus

or higher and the students would use that

as a moment to hook up and it

apparently was encouraged by professor

delaney

and a couple of interesting things about

this moment like will strategically i

think decides like oh you haven't talked

to alicia um let me pump you for

some information before uh anything else

comes out like you know uh so uh

so you haven't talked to alicia huh so

you you would still be willing to help

me if i if i asked you for

help because i think if you knew the

truth you wouldn't ask me for help or

you wouldn't give me the help i'm asking

for

Well, I think what's really interesting,

well, after he continued,

first he asked about Jeffrey,

was Jeffrey in this club?

And he's like, I guess so,

because he's a good student.

Like,

I don't see any reason why he wouldn't

be in this club.

Which kind of flies in the face of

Jeffrey insisting he had no idea who Danny

was.

Exactly.

Exactly.

So this is when Owen says to Will,

how's Alicia doing?

And Will is, like, very honest.

Kind of.

Kind of.

Yeah, I mean...

She says, I don't know.

She's no longer with my firm.

She left three weeks ago.

And Owen's like, what?

And he's like, what happened?

And Will says, I honestly have no idea.

And I think that is true.

That's definitely true.

Because he's like, I still don't know why.

Like,

he chooses to leave out some things of

like, yeah, you know,

I found out what she was doing.

I went and like threw everything off her

desk and screamed and yelled at her.

Yeah, you know, he left those parts out.

But he's like, yeah,

I genuinely have no idea why she did

this to me.

Like, I thought we were.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Like, he is.

like still confused about this,

which I don't blame him for.

Kalinda goes to visit Uncle Jim,

Jeffrey's Uncle Jim.

And I loved this little section for many

reasons.

First of all,

can we talk about the porch and the

number of lawn ornaments on that porch?

It was amazing.

There were flamingos.

There were pinwheels.

There were a bunch of things.

Very great.

Loved it.

But Kalinda goes and asks Uncle Jim about

Jeffrey.

And I love when Uncle Jim says,

who are you?

And Kalinda says, Kalinda?

I'm Kalinda, bitch.

That's all you need to know.

Yeah.

And she's like,

you're the only male relative here.

And he's like, oh,

you're looking for male DNA for man DNA.

Hold on just one second.

and he goes and finds a picture of

himself pre-transition so uncle jim is a

trans man love to see it especially in

the early two thousand tens or wherever

the heck we are we're probably in twenty

fourteen at this point um but i loved

that this was a little reveal and he

says jeffrey doesn't know about me nor

does he know that he has a half

brother boy jeffrey's life's about to be

turned upside down in many different ways

here a lot of revelations about the family

coming out

Back in Alicia's apartment,

Carrie and Clark, okay, first of all,

Carrie is off book in this situation.

Clark is very much on book.

They are doing a little skit by the

computer to be overheard by who they think

is Lockhart Gardner.

And Clark is like, oh,

did you say you heard from the Paisley

group?

And Kara's like, yeah, Diane's top client.

We heard from her.

Oh, my gosh.

And, like,

Clark is very much reading his lines.

You can see Kara looking at him like,

come on, man.

Feel the words.

Yeah, like, be with me.

Feel the lines.

So funny.

David calls Alicia and he's like, hey,

so funny thing.

um yeah you were an associate on this

case but about halfway through the case

you were promoted to partner so you are

now responsible or liable for the six

million dollars so start getting that

together because this is what's gonna

happen yeah it's a game of hot potato

with liability here yeah yeah it's like

yours mine yours mine um at this point

alicia tells the firm

And I don't know, like,

Outsource Carrie is very much like,

they come for one of us,

they come for all of us.

She's like, okay.

He's very into it.

He's like, alright, Zeps.

I'm liking you a little more, Zeps.

Come on, get it.

In the middle of this,

Owen knocks on the door and is like,

hey,

I could use a lawyer or I could

find one.

And she's like,

who told you about the situation?

And Owen is still also very flabbergasted

that this is the environment that his

sister is working in.

he's like oh well about about that who

told me yeah so they go sit down

he's like it was will who told me

he came to my he came to my

college and was asking questions and he

let me know and alicia is like who

what what happened and owen's like it's

kind of fun to watch you like flail

considering you're like in warrior

princess mode right now

And he clocks it like any good sibling

would do.

He's like, this, this, this,

all of this that's happening around here

is because you're afraid of leaving your

marriage for Will.

It's not because of any other, like,

you really want to start your own firm?

No,

you just wanted to be away from this

man.

clocked her tea hard it was like don't

front with me you can't you can throw

everybody else you can't front with me i

know you're doing this yeah you're doing

this resist the temptation of will gardner

let you stand on my car to make

a phone call to this man

talk to you on our road trip back

from Seattle about this man.

During this,

it was Grace walks through the scene

basically and says,

do you know where Zach is?

They get Zach to go into Grace's room

through Alicia's bathroom.

So again, yes,

they think the firm placement is happening

here.

I think the setup there... Oh, yeah,

that's right.

What do you call it?

The Jack and Jill bathroom?

It's like her bedroom and his bedroom are

like connected by a bathroom yes grace is

like my webcam's on when did it happen

like five minutes ago uh so at the

same time clark is like i worked the

books at lockhart gardner i'm thinking

about your your lawsuit alicia i can help

you out because i know everything because

as we know everything's in the books

So back at Lockhart Gardner,

David Lee is like, listen, Carter Schmidt,

you're not going to win.

You're not going to, like,

this is a losing battle.

And Carter Schmidt's like,

I like losing cases.

It helps with clarity,

which I thought was funny.

I was like, yeah, yeah, we can go.

I'm just waiting for my next witness.

Lo and behold, it's Clark.

David is not happy to be a clerk

at all.

Calls clerk Judas.

He's like calling everyone Judas.

Everyone's Judas.

Everyone is Judas.

I like how Carter kind of like points

out.

He's like, oh,

so you're calling him Judas, right?

Did the record get that?

Judas who betrayed, you know, Jesus.

As if to say like, David,

do you think of yourself as Jesus?

Is that who you think you are?

Yeah.

like good one carter good one yeah that

was good uh and basically clark's

testimony puts into the record that david

was assigned the attorney of record

because clark was saying hey we need more

partner hours to like really kind of beef

up our books here so david was assigned

at this point cut two the liability hot

potato was back in david's hands yeah

Cut to Kalinda,

who has found Jeffrey's half-brother.

She's basically posing as, like,

a labor investigator.

The brother's name is Anderson Prickett,

and she's asking a bunch of questions,

but before the man answers any questions,

he very obviously spits out some gum to

the side.

She's asking all these questions about

working conditions, and also, like,

were you here on August the day that

Danny Littlejohn was killed,

and he

runs for the hill um and oh she's

like i don't care i got this gum

oh you mean kalinda um oh yeah sorry

kalinda yeah like knocks kalinda over to

like get away it's like you don't do

that to kalinda like that's why i couldn't

pull out her gun and shoot the man

like she's like oh my god like i've

never this is like why would you do

that to me uh but i guess this

is to me that's like oh admission of

guilt here we go

Yeah, I thought so too.

At this point,

David Lee is now being deposed by Carter

Schmidt and Alicia is waiting outside to

be redeposed.

We do only hear snippets of the

conversation,

one of them being David saying the check

didn't come from him,

but he knows who sent it.

And at this point,

Will is on the phone with Kalinda learning

about the gum situation and is

stopped because this is the first time

Will has seen Alicia since it all went

down.

well not not specific well kind of this

is the first time he's seen her in

his in his house yes because i mean

they saw each other and the like little

hearings back and forth that they were in

through you know deciding about giving her

the files last episode or whatever this is

the first time she's back in his house

of like oh you dare on their turf

on his dream turf with her

Yeah, they just give each other the eyes.

It's either like the I hate you eyes

or the I want to F you eyes.

With these two,

you could never really know.

You never know.

I really thought it was like

that was like a moment like will it's

like surprised but then he's also like huh

like what do i do with this and

she's like oh and she like adjusts her

posture and everything so it's like oh i

hate you so much but also meet me

in my office bathroom bathroom not office

very specific office bathroom very

specific the bathroom that's next to my

office it's not my office bathroom it's

the bathroom next to the office

And the door to the deposition opens again

and we hear David Lee in a very

David Lee way say,

it was the Indian kid who took the

shot.

It was an Indian kid, you see.

I had nothing to do with it.

It was that guy.

Yeah, you see.

So Alicia runs back to the apartment,

tells Carrie about it, questions Anthony,

aka the Indian kid, about this.

And he's like, yeah, I wrote the check.

And they're like, okay,

did you consult with anyone?

He's like, yeah, I consulted with Howard.

They're like, okay, great.

Let's get you on a deposition.

Call Carter Schmidt.

Let him know that we have this

information.

think it's a thing within the lock our

gardener like offices like if you need

something okayed go to howard he has no

idea what's going on he'll just say yes

to whatever it is you're looking for my

expense report howard yeah exactly i

really i really think the episode was

missing a howard deposition that would

have been nice

That would have been good.

Also at this point,

Zach finds Grace and is like, look,

the computer light is on.

When you walk in there,

he says to his sister,

he says the words,

when you get in there i need you

to start undressing and i'll just be here

and i'll just be here watching i'll be

here watching as i as i do the

tracking i'll just i'll just like no big

deal just go ahead and take all your

clothes off in front of me gosh and

she's like thankfully so she's like what

it's like i don't know like take off

your sweater or something like i don't

know i don't i don't i don't want

to see it it's for the hacker of

course

Obviously, obviously.

We need it to be on long enough

so that we can trace the situation.

Yeah, sure.

Sure is that.

Sure.

Right.

Yeah, go ahead.

You missed a part in the Grace stuff.

zach goes to look up to not yet

not yet i don't think so but yes

he does eventually goes he googles his own

sister and finds out that there is a

site that is selling footage of her sister

of a sister in an undressed state

that's child pornography.

I feel like you really skipped that big

part of it,

like in the in the show itself of

like, well, uh, you know,

that's another paper I can write about how

we let child pornography and pedophilia be

okay in certain situations and don't hold

anyone to account.

But I don't know what other evidence I

would have in today's day and age.

That is something that we do.

Like, as Zach finds this, of course,

he has to like, look at it weirdly.

I'm like,

And then as Zach likes to do,

instead of walking in and explaining

anything,

he just walks into her room and like

forcefully unplugs her computer.

Just like, no way, man.

Like, hey, why are you doing that?

Like, what do you mean?

Can't you just come in and calmly tell

me there's an issue?

You don't need to get acrobat, M.I.G.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So, yes.

And that kind of, well,

let's just finish that part.

At this point,

then he finds out who was tracking her

and goes to school and basically beats up

this kid.

who was the one who was tracking and

selling this footage apparently and zach

or grace is like he again doesn't

communicate with grace of what's going on

and grace is just like huh what what's

going on but also thank you yeah she

looks like you know as he beats the

hell out of styles which i feel like

we've heard that name before and he's a

creep stop ratting my sister stop it

They fight.

They get into a little bit of a

tussle.

Zach handles his business like a brother

should.

Grace is looking like, oh, my hero.

Because Zach doesn't talk to her or

whatever,

I guess that's the only way that he

shows love to his sister.

Which is still kind of gross and creepy.

It is.

It really is.

uh will gets a call from geneva and

geneva's like i got a deal for you

and we'll like this is great i love

this let's go get the deal and she's

like it's not about the dna it's not

about the dna uh but yeah come see

me and his way out he's walking out

start and it stopped at the elevator

by Owen and Will and Owen have their

own elevator conversation.

And Owen's like, look,

I'm really worried about Alicia.

I just want my sister to be happy.

Do you really think she wanted to start

her own firm?

Like,

do you really think this is something she

wanted to do?

she and Peter are not set in stone

and Will is sitting there like hearing all

this you can tell he's like hearing it

but he's also like I cannot do this

again and so he says to Owen before

leaving the elevator uh it's over goodbye

Owen you messy messy bitch I know I

love it I love it so much

Will goes to visit Jeff in jail and

is basically like, look,

they're going to present the deal.

I just need you to nod and smile

and nod and we'll talk later.

The deal is for a charge of involuntary

manslaughter for two years.

Jeffrey's starting to say stuff and Will

has to be like, nope,

we're going to talk about it.

Bye.

Goodbye, Geneva.

You can leave.

If you really want to go to Italy,

this is a great job.

Yeah, Jeeva's really pushing.

She's like, listen,

if you don't take this,

you have the potential of life in prison.

So you really,

really need to think about this.

And of course, Will's like,

stop trying to influence my client.

Get the hell out of here.

And then he,

I don't know if this is because of

his day, of everything that happened,

but he sits down and tells his client,

or asks his client,

did you kill Danny Littlejohn?

And he says, no.

Jeffrey says, no.

Says, OK, then you're innocent.

So you reject this deal,

which I don't think is a play that

he would have done if he had any

other day or if at least this Alicia

thing was going on.

Well, here's the thing.

I think Will is so confident that they

have won this now because, you know,

when Geneva calls him to bargain,

he's like, oh, that's it.

She wants to bargain.

We won because they now have the gum

from the half brother.

So that's true.

Jeff has convinced Will so much that he

didn't do this.

Will's like, oh, we're good.

Geneva's just trying to salvage anything

she can out of this,

which I think Geneva is also doing because

Geneva also probably is like, uh-oh,

we could be in trouble here if that

DNA comes in.

And we arrested the wrong guy.

So let's get this settled now.

So she's offering him like a little paltry

two years, which, you know, listen,

is a really good deal.

And, you know,

Will is so sure because Jeffrey has

assured him he didn't do this.

He's like, hey.

You didn't do it.

So if you didn't do it,

why would we take this deal?

So you're going to have to reject this

deal, my man.

He's like, I guess like, no, no,

I need you to tell me that you're

rejecting the deal.

Like,

I can't I can't say it for you.

Say it.

Say it to me.

He's like, yeah, all right.

We good.

We Gucci, baby.

We're going to get you out on the

streets because you ain't do this.

We got your brother's gum, man.

We good.

Which I do wonder.

At this point,

I don't even think he knows he has

a half-brother still.

Right.

Did they explain that to him before this

whole thing?

Like, what do you mean?

Like, my half-brother's go, half-brother?

He's like, oh, yeah.

And I got some news about your uncle,

too.

yeah there's a lot a lot going on

for jeffrey and he is like nervous by

not taking this deal and will says to

him this isn't meant to be easy like

this is this is how the system is

set up so will goes over to steve

was like hey we're gonna reject this deal

and he was like oh you really should

have taken it because we just got the

labs back on the uh labs back on

the gum and the cub doesn't match but

we ran the dna on jeffrey and it's

a

match and will's like huh what and

geneva's like clients lie will like it's

this isn't on you like clients lie and

so he goes back um yeah it's like

yeah clients lie meanwhile anthony is

getting deposed for his role in the

adoption case and he says

that yes he wrote the check and then

when asked who told you to write the

check he says alicia and alicia was in

charge the whole time and alicia is in

this deposition room like they set this up

so that she would hear directly from him

this turn and she's like wait what are

you doing and david was like you are

here as a guest and you will be

removed

You better stop getting uppity.

You better stop having this little

outburst.

It's like, what the hell?

Listen,

I think we all knew at some point

Anthony was going to do this because

Anthony's been nothing but a sniveling

little weasel.

Well, he wants his money.

Yeah,

he wants his money and he wants what

he gets from Lockhart Gardner.

It's a partnership.

It's a partnership.

And so we knew this little weasel was

going to do this at some point.

And this was the perfect opportunity for

him to turn on everybody else.

Like, oh, yes, it was Alicia.

It was her back there.

Like, you lying piece of crap.

He was a rat.

Oh, rats.

You dirty rat.

Exactly.

Exactly.

And David Lee is like so happy to

tell Alicia like, oh, well,

we had a partnership open and you know

what?

We just gave it to him.

And she's like so mad.

She turns to him and goes like,

stop ratting my computers.

David's like, whatever.

He's like, uh, okay.

Whatever that means.

which was funny which was funny uh will

goes back to jail to meet with jeffrey

and jeffrey's like i did not lie like

i don't know what is going on it

was like all right let me see what

i can do we're gonna go to trial

this could take up to six months everyone

everyone listening this could take up to

six months i'm not gonna give up and

you don't give up either

yeah we've got anthony who's turned to

locker turned back to rock our gardener

they're very worried about what

information that anthony can tell them but

don't worry because floric august has

their own hero their own

knight in shining armor who's going to

save the day.

Clark wants to work for them.

Work for free until they're in the black.

And he's just like, I like the law.

So I'm going to be here.

Interesting that he goes, I like...

And he looks at Carrie.

He wants to say, I like Carrie.

Carrie's my friend.

He's like, that would be too sentimental.

I like the law.

Yes.

Yes.

Like, oh, Clark.

Like, I, you know,

we hated you so much, Clark, at first.

But, man, you are really,

you're really coming in clutch, my man.

So I don't know.

I mean,

there's got to be more fallout than Zach

getting beaten up a kid about this ratting

business.

We've got the trial that could take up

to six months happening.

We've got Anthony basically as a ticking

time bomb and a spy over at Lockhart

Gardner for Floricagos.

Luckily, there was no Peter.

So it was great.

But also no Eli.

I know, that's a bummer.

You take the good, you take the bad.

But also Owen telling Will they're not set

in stone because they aren't.

And the only person who believes that they

are is Peter Florek.

And what does that say about elected

officials?

He could be blackmailed.

He's so vulnerable.

It's a believing things that aren't real

that this man

is just the worst well do we actually

know that peter thinks this is real i

think given the right motivation he might

he'll he'll still be like i still don't

know he might be thinking about will all

the time i don't know but i love

that owen was able to just like clock

alicia immediately like no girl i know

exactly why you're doing this because

you're upset with that man and you know

you can't be around him because you'll

give into your wildest temptations like oh

love it there's even no there's no

question of it there's no like look at

you you're you're all like crazy it hopped

up because you're you're you're jonesing

about will yeah and she's like really like

really on like some sort of power trip

and this is not the alicia that owen

knows alicia to be especially when alicia

is quote unquote happy um whatever that

means to both of them at this point

uh but yeah

Good on you, Owen.

Way to be a good little brother.

Way to be a good little bro.

I mean, listen,

brothers are coming in clutch the whole

episode.

You know what I mean?

Zach, Owen.

i was gonna say uh the half brother

who spit out gum well yeah not that

not that uh but the floor the floor

well the floor cavanaugh men are really

good for their sisters uh doing it for

the sisters um that's our episode uh
