The Good Wife: Season 5, Episode 8 - The Next Month

Welcome to TGP,

where today we'll be talking about TGW

S-V-E-E-T, the next month, aka TNM.

I am one of your hosts, JR.

With me, as always, MG.

MG?

YG?

Y?

YG?

YG?

I can't, I can't, I can't.

The acronyms of being in like a corporate,

I can't, I can't, I can't.

It's so funny because when I'm doing notes

for the show,

every time I have to talk about the

firm,

I type LG and FA now for floor

goggles.

So it was so funny.

That was the opening of the show.

Like we're now going by LG because we're

hip and we're cool.

So that was like, I was like, oh,

that's pretty cool.

They're like copying my note strategy.

Short and simple.

Well, we'll talk about it later.

But there's the electronics company.

My sister's initials are LG.

I was like, too much, too much,

too much.

uh yeah so um yeah in case you

didn't pick it up we're talking about the

good wife season five episode eight the

next month uh you know do you think

they just got lazy in the writer's room

for these titles of like okay we got

the next day the next week uh let's

stretch it to the next month like we

can't we can't possibly the next year the

next the next episode right like no i

guess we can't we gotta we gotta come

up with some other name for the title

like weird for me is that like i

think they're doing it for the time jump

because of the season because of things

like last time we heard josh talk about

like this is gonna be a six month

trial like we're gonna have to get to

six months within a season but um

it did not feel like a month away

it felt like just like the next day

like in the story so it's like they

didn't match up i think like the next

day did because everybody woke up and

everything like that the next week could

have been the next day after the next

day it really didn't necessarily i didn't

feel the time jump as much as they

were really telling us with the titles

Yeah, you're right about that.

Because as we hear Will talk about the

fact that they're opening offices in New

York, I'm like, what?

Since when?

I was like, oh, yeah,

I guess it's been a month.

So I guess they had some time to

start opening up things like that.

I'm pretty sure it probably takes longer

than a month to open up new law

offices.

But we know Will's been skiing the slopes.

So he's had a lot of time to

do things.

Extra energy.

Extra energy.

So, yes, before we, you know,

we talked about some of it already,

but before we dive deep into the episode,

let's remind you of some free and easy

ways you can help this podcast.

You can do that by reviewing, rating,

and subscribing wherever you are listening

and are watching.

We've actually gotten a few different

five-star ratings.

I love it.

We're currently sitting at forty eight

right now.

I would love to get to fifty by

the time like Elizabeth is over in the

next four to five weeks.

That'd be great.

So if you've been waiting for whatever

reason to like drop us a review,

a five star review or five star rating.

Pop it on in.

We'd love to get to you listening in

the car with other people.

Just like if you're one of those people,

just hop in there, say, hey,

my drive was so much better because I

was hanging out with Jason and Marissa.

It was so great.

Grab your wife's phone,

grab your husband's phone,

grab your Uber driver's phone.

Like, hey,

let me let me let me hit you

on the good pod real quick.

Let me leave a five star review from

your phone.

We'll take anything.

I don't care if they actually listen or

not.

I'm just worried about the review.

That's all I'm worried about.

You could also,

if you want to just chat with us

about the show,

if you have any thoughts or opinions,

we'd love to hear them.

You can always hit us up at

thegoodpodfeedback at gmail.com.

Also,

if you want to maybe help us out

monetarily,

you can definitely do that over at

buymeacoffee.com slash goodpod.

You can donate any sum of money that

you wish.

So yeah,

those are all ways you can help this

podcast flourish and be out there.

Hopefully one day we'll get the attention

of the kings.

I've tried.

I've tried.

He's really trying, guys.

Really trying.

He's really trying.

Jason is a really good PR person for

the pod, and he is doing his best.

He's in the Reddit.

He's talking to the Kings in DMs,

trying to get some interaction here.

But I'm sure they would be much more

responsive if they were like, oh,

the good pod,

the one that comes up when I search

the good wife in Apple.

Exactly.

You can also help YouTubers if you hit

the thumbs up button.

If you subscribe,

that gets us into more algorithms.

Maybe the Kings are out there surfing and

maybe they're getting nostalgic.

They're like,

let me type in the good wife and

see what happens.

And then if they do that,

we'll pop up.

They're like, oh my God,

this is that weird guy that's been trying

to DM me about this podcast.

Let me take a look at this.

So yeah,

those are all ways you can help this

podcast.

With that out of the way being said,

let's dive into the episode.

All right.

I'm sorry.

MG.

Let's go.

Okay, JR.

Better than Mar.

Better than Mar, right?

Okay.

That one is way better than Mar.

Yeah, MG.

Also, I've been called Margie before,

and that one's okay.

Margie.

Because the Mar and then the G,

like Margie for some reason,

is better for me than Mar straight up.

But MG, solid.

I'll take it anytime.

Yeah.

Yep.

Okay.

So, Will, like you said,

the time has come, Jason.

The time,

the month has passed since he was taking

this, taking the firm to the top.

We're going everywhere.

Apparently,

Lockhart Gardner is opening up offices in

New York.

And he, Will is telling, like, the,

I think,

executive partnership board people.

And

While he's doing this, then he, like,

tosses out new branding.

This is where we are not to refer

to Lockhart Gardner as Lockhart Gardner

anymore.

We are only to refer to it as

LG.

And also, like,

the design on this logo was basically,

like, word art.

Like,

I don't really know what he was trying

to convey with this.

But I do want to also talk about

Diane's reaction to this, too,

because it was a little interesting to me.

Yeah, she's almost rolling her eyes.

Like, oh, my God, this is ridiculous.

Like, she agreed to Will's, like, big,

broad plan in order for her to,

I guess,

keep her stake in the partnership.

But she's like, oh, my God, like,

this guy's going crazy.

And it really feels like, you know,

this is what, two thousand fourteen,

two thousand fifteen.

That's reminiscent of the time.

Also is reminiscent of, like,

the two thousands.

Like,

also the early two thousands where

everything was getting, like,

you know consolidated and uh you know uh

anagrams like we're not we're not this

anymore we're lg now because we're cool

like we'd used um abbreviations or not

yeah what are they called they're not

abbreviations no

Yeah, I guess they're abbreviations.

But before we started taking vowels out of

words and just putting R at the end,

that was the next evolution of this trend.

Yeah, we've gone too far now.

Now we're replacing S's with Z's.

I don't even know.

But why can't I spell, Jason?

Why is spelling so hard for me?

I don't know.

Maybe because I don't know how to spell

things because they keep changing things

all the time.

I guess I should have said that.

Mars bars.

That's you.

Yeah, but yeah, I did a clock there.

I mean, like,

this is getting a little too much.

You do a little too much, Will.

Yeah, and while... Okay,

so he's standing in the conference room

giving this information,

and then Anthony just, like,

stands outside the window and interrupts

this whole thing and...

he leaves super quick diane leaves and

david lee leaves quickly to get the update

from anthony which was sort of time like

time sensitive but also could have been an

email at the same time because anthony is

there and he's like these this is who's

leaving um

Floricagos,

like these are potential people for you

guys to pick up.

And also they moved to a t-shirt factory

at Grand Avenue,

which David Lee is rolling his eyes at.

And then second of all,

and also there is someone who used to

work here who wants to stop by and

talk to you, yada, yada, yada.

And they actually aren't being helped by

the governor's office because of the

ethical stuff.

It was kind of just like a...

brain dump like a dump of information that

needed to be delivered by this character

but it wasn't like urgent in my opinion

it wasn't stand outside the window urgent

hey come here come here come here uh

interestingly enough we heard again the

name sonia rucker um yeah yeah i was

like hey yeah sonia rucker's actually

leaving uh you know

Flora Gagos.

It's like, well,

that kind of makes sense because it felt

like Sonya was only leaving because Diane

was leaving the firm and now that Diane

is back at the firm and also the

fact that Flora Gagos is seemingly kind of

shaky.

She's like, oh yeah,

why am I with these losers?

Let me go back to my friend Diane.

Who actually has an office.

Yeah,

it does make me wonder if we are

going to see Sonya Rucker.

Because Sonya Rucker has been a name

throughout the last five episodes.

We saw her in person with Diane.

We talked about at the time how Sonya

Rucker was a part of a previous season

long ago.

As we've learned,

Good Wife likes to seed things.

So I do wonder if the Sonya Rucker

case is going to be some other case

we're going to dive into at some other

point.

yeah i love one i love not remembering

because like it's fun to be surprised by

those things and even on a first watch

it's great to like be surprised when

people pop up and when they come back

uh this one i wasn't too excited about

because will's girl toy person uh isabel i

think is her name

is there and while they're like standing

in the hallway getting this information

will is super distracted because isabel's

in her his office with a macbook needing

to use his wi-fi or something like that

studying for like a driver's test like how

old is this person i don't understand

They threw this information in there and

then they never referenced it.

We never understood why she was taking a

driving course or driving test.

I was like, that was a really,

really random factoid.

I mean,

maybe it will come into play later in

another episode,

but it never came into play again this

episode.

I was surprised Will wasn't like, hey,

so you want to go to the bathroom

connected to my office?

Not an office bathroom,

but a bathroom that is conveniently here

in my office, kind of, sort of.

It is not part of my office.

I want to make that clear.

It is the bathroom connected to my office.

Well, okay.

Like,

she may not have gotten her license when

she was sixteen, but like...

In the state of Illinois, at least.

The only other time I had to take

the written test was when I turned forty.

So, like,

and that's me and my driving record.

What's up with this girl?

Why does she, you know what I mean?

Like, why is she taking this test?

Because, like, the question was, like,

what do you put,

what lights do you put on in the

fog?

And Will's like, low beef.

I mean, Isabelle makes a good point.

She's like, why isn't it fog lights?

And I think they're like the same thing.

But anyway,

while this conversation is happening,

Diane, David Lee,

and I think Anthony sticks around and

they're just kind of like looking in

Will's office.

Oh, it's Howard.

Yeah, you're right.

Howard is looking in and David's like,

do we have a Yoko Ono on our

side to deal with or something like that?

At that point,

Howard does take the meeting with the

former coworker who wanted to talk to

Alicia.

Important to note,

because David Lee is like, who cares?

Give it to Howard.

Yeah, exactly.

They're like, whatever.

And it turns out to be Natalie,

aka America Ferreira,

aka Eli's love of his life.

Like, we're so excited to see her again.

Love me some America Ferreira.

You know,

I was not an Ugly Betty fan.

I was not a...

I was not a Sisterhood of the Traveling

Pants fan.

So I was late to the America Ferrera

party.

I was a big Superstore fan.

So that's where I got my big dose

of America Ferrera.

And I love her forever for that show.

She was great in that show.

I could see you really enjoying that show.

God bless America.

Yeah.

I think I became a fan of hers

in Real Women Have Curves.

It was an indie movie that came out

when I was in college.

And I was like, yes,

real women do have curves.

Yes, America Pereira.

Yes.

And then I was like, oh, okay.

Let me follow you.

But yes, she's back.

And Howard is meeting with her in one

of... It's like a very Howard meeting.

Yes.

Like a very...

It's like, oh,

so you want to come back now?

He's like, no,

I actually have a friend who's being

deported,

but we need to help him with a

snitch visa,

which I cannot believe that is what we

call these things, but it's true.

It's like an official name of these visas.

I was like, wow,

we actually call it that?

And Howard is like, oh, Mexico?

Oh, are you Mexican?

Oh, gosh.

You know, I love Mexico.

I went to Mexico and I had a

lot of love.

In the sixties,

there were a lot of things I did

there.

You know,

all the ladies are very beautiful.

You know what I mean?

Giving her the creepy jeepies.

I'm like, oh, gross.

And Natalie,

the smart and intelligent woman that she

is,

excuses herself from this room and goes to

ask the receptionist,

do you know where Alicia Florek is?

And I have to say, the receptionist,

who I still don't know her name,

she's been in like five episodes by now,

but she willingly says to Natalie she

doesn't work here anymore.

After we've seen this woman run connected

to the phone to try and get Will

or Diane to say that someone is asking

for Alicia,

And then we find out later,

actually gives Natalie this information of

where she's at.

And it has the new address of the

offices.

So it was a little interesting.

The way that Will reacted later,

that might be that lady's last day at

the end.

This might be the last episode we saw

of that receptionist.

Because literally,

it was almost as if she's like...

Natalie asked for Alicia, she's like,

as long as she looked around, like,

can anyone hear me?

Here's where she's at.

A little piece of paper with the address

on it.

I mean, I guess through Anthony, I guess,

is how they got that information.

I feel like it's through the, you know,

it goes through the grapevine, right?

Of like,

Probably like assistants, receptionists.

If they had group chats back in those

days,

if they had Slack channels back in those

days, it was probably like, girl,

we are in a band of t-shirts.

You will never believe this.

You will never believe what it got me

working.

I remember I had to get my company

on Skype because I was like,

this is insane.

This is too much.

This is too much.

I need an instant messaging type of thing.

And they were like, what is this?

So, yeah, she could have, like,

Skyped or Google chatted.

Yeah.

Bad information, but yes.

So Floricagos has new offices in a t-shirt

factory.

This was also like the time of this

happening.

I don't know if this happened in Baltimore

or like this was like a thing, right?

Like it was like,

let's use industrialized places as offices

and make them look cool and hip and

amazing and this open floor plan and all

this cool lofty stuff.

a lot of like abandoned breweries and yeah

different factories that got converted

into office space except you know this

this time is more of necessity than trying

to be cool yeah because we do learn

from anthony earlier in the episode that

this is only twenty dollars a square foot

we've gotten a lot of quotes on real

estate this entire time so this is not

the cheapest i'm real up on chicago realty

in the mid-twenty tens in chicago you know

in chicago that's insane

so they have the space they don't

necessarily have phones um they're like

we're gonna be like a hip startup we

can we do this like chum hum will

come here because we're like them right

like this is so cool we could totally

do this and if they're having this

conversation now he walks in and she's

like hello am i in the right place

am i gonna get stabbed am i coming

here for a law consultation or am i

coming here for drugs i don't know i

don't know which one's which yeah

Yeah, she does bring Alicia up to speed.

She's like, I knew Tomas in school.

He is going to snitch against this guy

named Lalo,

which is like name recognition for both of

them.

They're like, yeah, I know this Lalo guy.

Not great.

So Alicia's like,

I got to run it by the rest

of the partners, but hold tight.

She brings it to, I don't know,

the buddy cop duo of the Carys that

is forming.

The Carys.

Zep's an odd ghost, baby.

Brings us to the Carys.

And Zep says, yeah,

we do this pro bono because she has

a connection to a larger client.

Go for it.

Do it.

It's worth it.

And then they celebrate having a new

client.

Yeah, because I mean, at first,

Carrie has been all about,

we can't be taking clients.

Make us no money.

What's the point of that?

And Zep's coming in clutch.

He's like, hey,

She works for lobbyists.

That could get us a lot of clients.

So we got to do this.

We make a good impression here.

Jason,

it's like sometimes you just have to get

in a hole to get yourself out of

the hole, you know?

Like sometimes.

It's not great.

Sometimes you got to be lifted up from

your bootstraps, you know?

Exactly.

Exactly.

So they have the first client.

After this conversation,

the Curios stick around to have a

conversation.

And Zeps asks Agos, hey,

we're going to have to cut someone because

I was talking to Clark who we didn't

see,

but I was talking to him and we're

going to have to cut someone.

And then like around the corner,

Robin is just there like listening to it.

And there is unfortunately this like

corporate standard of like last one in

first one out.

And Robin was the last person that was

hired.

And I,

Carrie August is like, well,

we made a promise, bro.

We made a promise.

And Carrie is like basically being Clark

in this situation and saying, like,

none of these promises matter if we go

under.

yeah see this is what happens when you

leave lg that has all the glass walls

right brick walls now you had a brick

wall you couldn't see that robin was

behind the brick wall listening if you're

still at lg with glass walls you want

to see her there you want to say

what you said hey you would have been

in this in case glass tube instead of

this open concept nonsense with a random

brick wall that has no other connecting

walls so that robert can hear what you're

saying on the other side

the first and the last and first out

concept is dumb in this case because robin

is a specialized it's like yes exactly

it's not like they have like eighty

investigators all the time and then like

zeps is like rationalizing this like well

we haven't done a lot of investigation in

the last couple months well because

hopefully hopefully at some point we will

and so we'll need her like why are

we gonna fire her just to maybe hire

her back when we get some investigative

work doesn't make any sense zaps uh zaps

freaking zips

At this point in the episode,

we do get to meet Tomas and his

wife, who are meeting with the ASA Tomas,

Natalie's friend,

who's going to be deported if he doesn't

get this visa.

I would just like to say,

I've made my stances known on immigration.

This...

this episode I think does a really good

job of showing how messed up the system

is given the number of places we're going

to have to go and the vulnerability here

in the exact like in the way that

we're meeting Tomas here because Tomas is

like just sitting there and then we've got

the ASA Carl who's like really pushing

he's like if you don't do this if

you don't do this you're gonna get

supported you're gonna do all this stuff

and they're they they did a really good

job in my opinion of in my opinion

of um

laying that groundwork and kind of having

like an essay on immigration without

explicitly putting it in out there yeah i

was also really just thinking about how

different this episode would be today was

twenty twenty six right oh yeah like half

of those places we went wouldn't even have

the conversation because the person would

just be on the bus and gone

Yeah, I mean,

the name Ice does not even get really

name checked here.

But we do see it.

Yeah, we see it.

We see the agents.

But we were like, if this was today,

we would have Ice agents as ancillary

characters in this episode.

It would be a whole thing.

So I was just like, wow,

how different this would be.

i mean a lot of these same conceits

still exist to this day and like like

you said about how horrible the system is

but just it would be even more even

worse now yeah there's a lot of luxury

that tomas gets here that he would not

get in twenty twenty six for sure and

it just in this episode also illustrates

the like uh ridiculousness of the logic of

some of these like uh policies and you

know and yes like how how these how

the system works

yes so we're starting this journey in a

courtroom just like in a regular courtroom

um and tomas again in jail with or

like in a jumpsuit with his wife carl's

really processing like hey if you got to

sign this snitch then you won't get

deported that's all you got to do that's

all alicia comes in is like i am

his lawyer now so you stop talking to

my client he's like you know here's the

thing alicia's gonna try to get you

deported like

i'm just gonna keep it's kind of like

like it's the worst like car salesman

thing we've seen in like an asa do

on the show at least um and so

let me tell you something i i get

i get the vapors when boss alicia comes

in she is like on him man i

don't i don't know if it's some of

my like uh you know

predilections or some of my issues I have

to deal with.

But when Alicia comes in and she's

stirred, I'm just like, ooh.

Alicia well and she's like let's talk

about where that's coming from right

that's coming from the fact that she this

is her first solo client that could be

a bigger thing so she's also trying to

show Natalie like look I am a badass

bitch basically like I am here boss mode

this is boss mode Alicia she's like I

have no one to answer to I don't

have because let's if this was if this

was LG right like you would assume that

like maybe Will would be here with her

and Will would maybe take the charge she's

now yeah

yeah, this is now Alicia.

The in-charge Alicia.

There's no one over top of Alicia.

This is now Alicia coming in and be

like, hey, step off, bro.

Like, oh, okay.

Yeah, and she comes in super strong.

We don't get to see the conversation

between her and Tomas,

but she leaves it basically going to Carl

the ASA saying like, okay, he'll sign it,

but he wants twenty-four hour protection

put in the visa.

And also he wants like promise that you

won't deport his wife and his son.

And the ASA's like,

you didn't have to come here.

Like, I would have done all of this.

You didn't have to be here,

which you could take as Alicia didn't need

to be there,

or he's trying to kind of diffuse the

situation.

When Alicia says, no, but I get that,

but I'm going to need it in writing.

In the visa, because they talked about it,

but they didn't have it.

Because you're not going to worm out of

this by being like, well,

it wasn't in writing,

so I don't have to buy by anything.

She's like,

I'm here to make sure we get it

in writing so that when this happens,

you stick to your word.

Because I'm not going to take a verbal

agreement with you right now.

We're going to get it in writing.

It's like, yes,

it is a good thing Alicia's here to

make sure that you're not pulling any

shenanigans.

Yes.

And you could,

we have to assume that that happened

because the next scene that we see is

Alicia Antomas showing up at Lalo's trial.

Can I just say, anytime I hear Lalo,

I just cannot help but think of Lalo

Salamanca from, what was it?

It was Breaking Bad, right?

It was Breaking Bad, yeah.

Probably Breaking Bad and Better Call

Saul, probably both of them.

It's the only thing I think of when

I hear Lalo.

I know that Lalo means grandfather in

Tagalog, which is Philippine language.

So anytime I hear Lalo, I'm like,

whose grandfather is he?

What's going on with that?

Yeah, exactly.

Like, what?

Huh?

So Lalo, Lalo's a bad dude, right?

Like Lalo,

they're trying to paint the picture like

he's like in a drug cartel.

He decapitates people.

He hangs them from bridges.

Not great.

Not great at all.

He has a calling card, which, you know,

makes him bad.

What Tomas has to basically testify to to

get this visa is the fact that his

shop was used for a meeting with this,

as they call him,

call them Latin gangsters.

they don't mention any of the other latin

gangsters but uh lalo's calling card is

putting the initials lc on a bullet and

leaving it there so everyone kind of knows

that it's them so we learn that

information there lalo sees tomas come in

like looks concerned has to talk to his

talk to his lawyer about things and carl's

like this is great like he's scared this

is fantastic at this point we think

everything's going to plan

Which I don't know, like,

I'm not sure why you would bring a

snitch into the courtroom if he's not

testifying at this moment.

Why tip off the person that you're

snitching against before it happens?

So it's like,

this may have been a plan of Carl's

to begin with.

But like...

His family is now already in danger before

he even snitches at this point was my

thought.

I was like, uh-oh,

they're going to kill Tomas now because we

have to kill him before he snitches.

That was my first thought before the

episode went on.

I was like, oh boy.

Well, and also from the ESA's perspective,

it's kind of like a two-for-one.

If the guy doesn't have to snitch,

he doesn't get the visa.

Yeah, exactly.

He doesn't get the visa, so...

bada bing bada boom he's gone lalo's gone

yeah which is kind of evil like yes

very much yes exactly exactly i don't know

why alicia would even agree to that to

be like oh yeah we'll parade him in

front of uh in front of lalo no

problem alicia come on

Yeah, yeah, it was a little weird.

Back at Flora Akos' loft, Marilyn,

who is still like literally the most

pregnant person I've ever seen in my,

not like physically,

but like symptomatically,

this woman is having a lot of...

I got some questions for Marilyn.

I got some questions for Marilyn.

I'm looking a little side-eye at Marilyn

after this episode.

She's addicted to pumpkin pop tarts

because they're the only thing that can

really calm her stomach.

Eli is also there.

They're there to talk to Alicia about

Peter visiting to congratulate his wife on

their new venture, whatever, whatever.

They're like, there's no photos, no press.

And Alicia's like, listen,

he can come whenever he wants,

but you're not going to police us.

He's literally coming to a t-shirt loft.

What?

like it's not that big of a deal

bro alicia hates to be pressed she's like

i do not i don't have time to

reload negotiations i have time for the

rules if he wants to come he can

come i just it's whatever bro like they're

like no no like i mean there should

be

no photos no press no clients okay marilyn

you're doing too much you're doing too

much so much so you're not you're not

another eli okay like she's like you're

doing too much marilyn calm down so much

i love i love eli being eli being

like so this is uh this is it

huh yeah it's just like early stages

but also okay so we're here natalie is

also here natalie is across the way and

eli is like it was like i don't

know he woke up from a dream like

he was he was so he was so

distracted he was so taken by her he

could he could not find words he was

tripping over his words he then didn't

know what to do with himself because it's

like oh natalie's here uh

Eli, Eli was to Natalie,

as I was to fried chicken.

The first time I had it after surgery.

I survived.

It was good.

It was okay.

I was like, Oh, it was Popeye's.

It's like, Oh, man, I was like, Oh,

like,

as I was giving handed it from the

drive through, I was like,

I started smelling it was like,

can't wait to get you home oh my

god like i'm sure that's like how i

was like how eli was with natalie he

like i and i love like you don't

we don't see eli like that like ever

ever and it was it was so delicious

like and of course it's uh why blake

on his name alan coming so and of

course anything he does is going to be

like fun and great but this is just

really really good because it's it's a

it's an emotion we haven't seen from him

before

Yeah, he's, like, literally, like,

does not know what to do.

We get a phone call that Lalo has

gone back to Mexico.

Like, Natalie gets this phone call.

And Natalie is oblivious to the fact that

Eli's here.

Like, Eli is flipping out.

But she's just, like,

really focused on the fact that Lalo went

back to Mexico.

He's going to be...

He's going to Nuevo Laredo,

which I don't know what it is with

Mexico, but everywhere's Nuevo.

Everything is new.

Everything... We got new this, new that.

Anything is Nuevo.

Anyway...

uh tomas doesn't have to testify this is

great fantastic oh my gosh this is so

fantastic at this point natalie leaves eli

cannot run fast enough and as he went

he made even made even better by the

fact that his hair flops did you see

the hair flop yeah and i don't i

don't know who taught alan cumming how to

run but oh my god

quite a sight.

Can we not give this man a running

coach before we shot this scene?

His arms are flailing as he's running a

sight.

i have to know i mean i guess

nightcrawler doesn't really run but like

he's bam for play space yeah yeah so

we didn't have to like i'm like i

think that's the only action film like for

those that don't know alan coming like hot

off the success of eli gold had a

short-lived um uh procedural show yes uh

i don't know if he ever ran in

that i i assume he must have at

some point but i i hope he's gotten

a running coach before uh avengers

doomsday comes out um because my god i

was like

what is this man doing it was so

awkward like it was yeah and then he

had to like deal with the stairs and

then he had to like do all this

stuff he's looking everywhere look at

where'd she go where's she and it's the

classic like i don't see her i don't

see her boom they run into each other

i mean that run was like the elaine

bettis sign for dance of running it's like

what are we doing it was it was

uh natalie's like oh my gosh i was

i didn't know if i'd run into you

i didn't think i'd literally run into you

and they're very awkward and very sweet

and they're just like oh i've been

following you not like stalking you or

anything but like following what you've

been doing with your career and i'll stop

i'll stalk you later in the episode not

right now yeah uh they do agree to

have dinner

I mean, he almost left, right?

He was almost like, hey,

good to see you.

But as he will several times in this

episode, he stops.

And he's like, no, Eli,

the time is now.

Get it now.

And he turns around, hey, hey,

let's get dinner.

Let's get dinner.

And Natalie's like, what?

Yeah, sure.

Okay.

I love how they're both awkward.

They both don't know how to kind of

navigate the situation.

I think, you know, it's been, what,

season two?

Since we've seen...

natalie's season two season three maybe

three maybe three because i feel like i

feel like she came on the scene in

season two and then she came back in

season three for something i forgot what

it was that's right that's right but they

met up then uh now she's back in

season five i you know you know you

wouldn't think especially who i know alan

coming to be now like alan coming america

ferreira like i wouldn't put them together

like necessarily but the vibes be vibing

when they're together yeah yeah yeah

So they agree to have dinner.

Will is getting a call from Joe,

Natalie's boss.

And now all of a sudden Will's like,

well, who's Natalie?

I think we need to talk to her.

Like, I think we should talk to her.

And this is when he finds out that

Howard is the one that talked to Natalie.

And the fact that the receptionist gave

Natalie Alicia's address.

And he is pissed.

He bangs on the damn it.

And I do love, like, I love this,

this sequence, right?

Because first of all,

freaking isabel is like all over will he's

taking this phone call from natalie's boss

he was a big a big a big

deal lobbyist she's like hey man what's up

yeah who what uh-huh huh and so and

so he's like hey um because i do

believe like at the time of natalie

forrest when she was a big deal here

this was uh around the time of will's

suspension so you might not remember who

know or remember who natalie was um

And so he's like, hey, Diane,

who's Natalie for us?

And Diane's like, oh, yeah,

she worked here.

Yep, yep.

He's like, okay, well, she's a big deal.

So whenever she gets here,

we're going to have to really pay

attention to her.

And David,

who was the one that was just like,

ah, phooey, who cares?

She's not going to make us any money.

He's like, you can almost hear him go,

gulp, like,

um i messed up this is because david

like lived in the basement for the first

like like yeah he was he was on

the second the second floor they of suites

they they own in his own little family

law land so he's like i don't know

who this freaking natalie person is

I don't know.

But Howard found out and like, oh, man,

OK, fine.

And like you said, Will was pissed.

And then but Diane,

its response is it's not lost yet.

Like she's very like level headed.

She's not going to the same extent as

Will.

Listen, Diane is not skiing.

Yeah, that's true.

Diane won't get into recreational drugs

until the good fight later in the life

of the series of this franchise,

I should say.

So she's calm and level-headed.

She's like, it's okay.

It's all right.

Relax, Will.

Chill out.

We'll figure it out.

Yeah, and Howard's like,

I didn't do anything.

I didn't do anything wrong.

I was just,

I was only complimenting Mexicans.

I just said how sexy they are.

What's the big deal?

What?

Alicia's at home playing with the interior

design version of Sims, basically,

to design the office.

And she gets a phone call from Tomas's

wife saying they took him to Nueva...

I want to say Nueva Leon because that's

where my dad's from.

Nueva Laredo.

And that he's going to get killed,

basically.

Like, they took him to Mexico.

He's going to get killed.

He's a snitch.

That's where Lalo is.

Lalo's going to be there.

He's not going to have, like,

he's not going to be in jail.

He's not going to have the protection

that,

or Tomas isn't going to have the

protection that he needs.

So Alicia gets on the phone right away

with ASA.

Carl.

I just, I'm just, Carl.

Dolan.

Anytime I hear Carl,

I think of Walking Dead.

Carl!

Carl there was also the sketch that

Kristen Wiig did on the Tonight Show where

she dressed up as Daenerys from Game of

Thrones and she called her dragon Carl and

then she just kept going where's Carl Carl

like where's Carl

So bad news.

Bad, bad, bad news.

Robin goes to check in with Kalinda.

She's like, hey, so, like,

have they hired anyone else here at LG?

They're going to, like, these guys,

they're going to lay me off.

And Kalinda, Kalinda,

Kalinda really cares in this moment.

Because Robin is basically, like,

putting a good word for me.

And Kalinda's like, look.

It's not going to work.

Girl,

there's not a word good enough I can

put in for you after what's gone down.

But I mean,

I think Collin may be a little

short-sighted.

Because so far...

LG, mainly Will,

has taken in a couple of different people

if they can give good information.

If they have good intel,

you can come back.

But Clint is like, mm-mm.

Clint is also like,

I just got rid of you.

I just got my job back to myself.

So I'm not going to be trying to

get you back here to shorten my workload.

So yeah, I don't think so.

Yeah.

And she tells her, like,

make yourself indispensable.

And Robin's like, but I'm not you.

And she's like,

you don't have to be you.

Or you don't have to be me,

be you, basically.

And then it's like,

nothing changes you because she shares

what happened at the state's attorney's

office and how she made herself

indispensable there.

And so Kalinda tells Robin,

nothing changes you like the loss of a

job.

I got to tell you,

as someone who's experienced that three

times in my life, it's not fun,

but it is true.

So Robin's got this new lease on life,

new directive.

She feels like she's got to make herself

indispensable.

So then we see Eli and Natalie at

dinner.

Oh, my God.

They're so awkward.

Eli is like,

I'm not looking at my phone.

I'm not going to do it.

I'm not going to do it.

I respect you so much, Natalie.

I'm not going to look at my phone.

And the phone rings over and over and

over again.

And it's the governor's office.

And she's like...

Don't you want to get that?

He's like, no, no, no.

We find out that the Cirque du Soleil

boyfriend got married to someone else.

And there was this cute little moment

where Eli's like, oh, I'm so sad.

Oh, no.

No, you're not.

No, you're not.

We learned that Natalie is looking forward

to hearing Peter speak at the Minority

Voters League on redistricting.

This is where Eli's like, oh,

we had to cancel it because with

redistricting, you offend somebody.

So we were kind of like staying out

of it.

And this is where Natalie gets a call

from Alicia.

She is interrupted with the news about

Tomas being sent back to Mexico and kind

of walks out on this dinner.

But she says,

can we do this another time?

Like she really doesn't want to go,

but she has to go because of the

situation.

My thought was like, Eli, go with her.

Help her.

But probably he's thinking like,

don't want to really get into that as

the chief of staff of the governor.

So I get why he might have wanted

to sit this one out.

But if you want to impress this woman,

Eli, you go with her.

But does he know?

Like,

I don't even know if he knows right

now.

Yeah.

I mean...

how far do they get into their

conversation about what yeah i don't know

we don't know i mean i you know

eli helped her out last time she was

in town he went to the ends of

the earth to help her out with another

person that was getting deported this

woman just can't can't stop being around

people that get deported um but but like

i i maybe he was just like yeah

i can't really get into that but i

was like if you want to really impress

this woman you should go you can help

her like

I would have loved a Natalie, Eli,

Alicia team up.

Now, what's interesting about this, right,

is that Alicia gets the phone call at

home.

She's like, oh my God, gotta do something.

She calls Natalie.

Oh my God, we gotta do something.

The next scene takes place the next day.

Yeah, I know.

I was like, oh, okay.

I guess we are doing something tomorrow.

The scene is where they're talking to Carl

on the steps in the courthouse.

And Carl's like, well,

the thing is Tomas didn't actually snitch.

So he can't get a snitch visa if

there is no snitching.

And it was just like,

you're sending him to get killed.

You're sending him to the exact place

where the person he was going to snitch

on is going to go.

Carl's like, I know that sounds unfair.

because it is i know i know that

sounds bad um but also we can't talk

about her anymore because he's gonna tomas

is gonna be on a bus at four

o'clock in the morning and he's going back

to mexico so he's already he's literally

on the way yeah it's like he basically

snitched like he pre-snitched he's the

reason that the guy is gone he's he

like he intimidated he yeah he

yeah yeah yeah yeah just as good as

snitch he's like oh nope he technically

technically via the letter of the law

didn't snitch so i gotta i got out

of giving someone else a visa i feel

good about myself freaking turd so they

got twelve hours twelve hours to get him

um to stay in the u.s before going

back to mexico but yes freaking turd

indeed

Will talks to Joe, Natalie's boss,

and is like, hey,

we were just trying to, like, don't worry.

Like, have her come back.

We can totally win her business.

At this point,

while Will is having this conversation,

Isabel, of course,

is there because she's always there.

And so she steps out of Will's office

to go get a pretzel,

which apparently is this pretzel bar thing

in the hallway.

I don't know.

The LG craft services, it kind of snaps.

Like, I'm down with that.

I like that.

David Lee again I love him and I

also hate him but I love him because

he he shows up there he's pouring himself

a glass of water and he's like oh

it's just so sad Wilson Wilson so much

pain no it's like uh okay whatever who

are you he's like I'm David Lee Wilson

so much pain from Alicia now in love

with Alicia who's Alicia you're gonna have

to ask him

it was such it was such a great

great david lee moment in my opinion yeah

david lee being david lee we always love

it uh i mean i i really don't

understand will's like thing here of like

having isabel around all the time like

it's it's so gross it's so unprofessional

like is he trying to be like don

draper it's like i'm a lothoria and i

don't know yeah that's true

I don't know.

I don't know.

It's weird.

It's weird.

Back on the case, the Carys,

the Carys of Teen Rob, again,

the Carys are here.

They're like, okay,

so funny thing about this,

but not really funny,

is the Tomas that we know is Tomas

I.

But the Tomas that was going to snitch

or that has the actual snitching

information...

is Tomas, why?

And so.

I don't think that was it.

I think like our Tomas was the snitch

that had the information.

yes that was our guy but that they

got they only took tomas because they

thought he was a different tomas right

exactly yes yeah and so they're like at

least like well this can't they just clear

this up no alicia no because here's the

thing immigration doesn't care about

spelling they just care if the person has

a social security number or green card or

whatever and if those that doesn't happen

you're out you're on a bus you're you're

out of here and this is

Yeah, like, Robin is, like,

in the background.

She's like,

you have to find the other Tomas.

And it's like, oh, okay, yeah, good idea.

Who should do that?

She's like, let me find him.

She's like Batman.

We gotta find the real Tomas.

That's the only way we're gonna get out

of this.

Like, whoa, where did you come from?

When did you show up here?

And why are you speaking?

We only have twelve hours.

And she's like,

Well, then I better get started.

I'll get the Joker.

I mean, Tomas.

The other Tomas.

Which is, like, that's all fine and good,

Robin.

That's great.

But I feel like this plan was not

a great plan.

Oh, my God.

Yeah.

I put it in my notes.

She does her best Kalinda impression.

Like,

she does things that she thinks Kalinda

would do,

but Kalinda would never actually do them.

I guess, but okay,

you're going to get the Tomas they

actually wanted to deport,

but the only thing that's going to happen

is they're going to deport both Tomases.

I didn't understand the logic here.

I was like,

we give them the real Tomas,

they give us the fake Tomas back.

I'm like, no,

that's not what they're going to do.

There was no snitching.

Yeah.

They're just going to deport both the

Tomases.

Cause it's like,

now that we have this Tomas, like, yes,

we didn't mean to get this Tomas.

Like,

because we find out later that the real,

the Tomas they wanted was on an expedited

deportation list,

but Tomas was not on that list.

I don't think it really matters.

It's like,

as long as we got people that don't

belong here and should be deported and

we've got them in hand,

we're going to deport them anyway.

Yeah.

It's like, oh, thank you, Robin,

for like doing the work of ice.

Yeah.

Yeah,

it's not going to be a prisoner exchange.

We're just going to send both of them

away.

Like, what are you talking about?

uh but she's dedicated she goes and she

tries to find the girl but like she

goes she knows she goes to the apartment

the guy's like i don't know where he

is it's like oh well i'm working on

a snitch case or whatever i'll give you

some bounty i'm like oh he does have

a girlfriend so then he goes to the

she goes to the girlfriend house messes up

her hair basically says that uh tomas why

owes

was gonna owe her child support which then

gets the girlfriend to go find tomas and

so she finds him in two hours she

finds this man but it was like also

like but it was weird it wasn't like

it's just weird it was too intense in

my opinion it was a very it was

it was her doing her best kalinda which

exactly because this is this is something

that kalinda would do like come up with

some lie to get the the girlfriend to

go lead her to uh tomas

So I was like, okay,

like this is actually, this was good.

I mean, she did some,

she does a method acting, right.

Of being like,

I think she's trying to be like a

strung out on drugs person,

which is why she like most of her

hair or something.

Cause you could tell the girlfriend was

also a little shaky.

Yeah.

A little bit, a little bit.

So I was like, okay, I see it.

I see the, I see the vision, Robin.

I see where you get into your

Kalinda-ness.

Okay.

I like it.

I like it.

Back at the governor's office,

Marilyn is updating Peter on the visit to

Laura Gagos and Associates.

Poor Marilyn.

Poor Marilyn.

Marilyn's like, we would advise you.

Alicia does not want to do all the

hoops for making her jump through,

so we're going to have to postpone this

little visit so we can get this working.

He's like, no, I'm just going to go.

the next thing out of her mouth is

like and we went through and we canceled

your speech and he was like not really

like we're gonna do it anyway and she's

like why why am i even here and

like she follows eli it's like wait what

what happened what changed she's like i

changed my mind don't you ever change your

mind and she's like no it's like oh

well this is what it looks like

And Marilyn rightly is just like,

what the hell is happening here?

What is going on?

What is going on?

Okay,

so to follow Tomas' journey or the journey

of Tomas' trial, we go back to court.

Alicia is arguing that, like, look,

Tomas is going to get killed.

Send him to Mexico.

He's going to get killed.

In the middle of this,

Carrie gets the phone call from Robin.

Robin's like, look,

I got Tomas number two.

And I thought she was going to, like,

hold him.

for job security of her own.

You know, like,

I'll turn him in if you promise me

that you'll keep me on board.

But she ends up, like, saying,

I have him,

but he wants ten thousand dollars.

And Kira's like, okay, whatever.

Like, we'll figure it out.

That was odd.

Also, another, again, odd to me.

Because why is Sabas being so, like,

cooperative?

Sabas is like,

yeah i'm here like i thought she was

gonna like yeah you know clinton his ass

like put him on the ground and like

put him in like zip ties or something

and she's like no i like i'm next

to him right here he wants to talk

to you actually like i was like i

was gonna be like that like no he

wants ten thousand dollars like okay but

tomas you know you're gonna get deported

right like like you know that's what this

is about right it's like but i guess

i guess the boss is confident he'll just

come back anyway

Yeah, and Carrie, like, this is, like,

also,

we can kind of see Carrie kind of

getting into his Peace Corps, Carrie,

like, he's, this is, like,

a thing that he's starting to care about,

because he walks in to court,

and he's like,

and then we have the real Tomas.

Yeah.

Okay.

All right.

This isn't a few good men, but okay.

And they're like, okay,

well that kind of mix up isn't out

in this court.

You're going to have to go to the

board of immigration appeals.

So they pick up,

they go to the board of immigration

appeals and they're like, okay, yeah.

Like we totally could have helped you with

this if it was earlier.

Now he's on a bus and we don't

want to waste taxpayers money,

please for the love of God.

do not waste taxpayers' money to save this

man's life, but sure, whatever.

We can't turn the bus around.

That would be a waste of taxpayer money.

Alicia is like, yeah,

but he's going to get killed.

Then the DA is like, well,

isn't that asylum?

Aren't you claiming asylum then?

The board's like, funny thing about that,

we can't hear asylum cases.

You're going to have to go to immigration

court.

yeah it was a we've seen this a

couple times in this series of like

running in between different courts like

oh you gotta go there you gotta go

here and i love every time it happens

because it's like you know they pick up

all their stuff and look at the other

side like well i'll race you yeah last

one there's a sore loser

So I love the running around.

And it also just shows the ridiculousness

of the system.

It's absurd.

Absurd.

Absurd.

So Eli's in his office at this point.

He's there.

He has told his assistant...

To clear everything.

We clear everything all the time.

He's reading.

And then as he picks up the phone

to yell at his assistant, like,

I told you to clear everything.

He's like, oh, Natalie's here?

Oh, yeah.

Okay.

Like, send her in.

And he, like, does the funniest pose.

He's just, like, trying to look, like,

all serious.

And then he, like, smiles at the end.

It's like...

it's so funny love it so funny and

he okay so natalie walks i'm just like

i just wanted to apologize for running out

last night and um i'm gonna run out

on you again because i have to go

to court but i really just want to

say like maybe like next time we're here

like we should go out for dinner sounds

great sounds great also i brought you

these dried apricots because they reminded

me of you for some reason i brought

some dry apricots

so great so awkward and natalie leaves

again we get a run from eli running

after natalie he's like listen natalie we

have to do this now like if this

was like this was almost like running

after her in an airport um it's like

if we don't do this now we're never

going to do this and you can see

marilyn like in the background going huh

what's up with that i'm getting it i'm

understanding now

isabel and will are in bed and isabel

goes uh hey so who's alicia he's like

what what what uh someone thinks that like

you're just with me because you're not

over alicia i was like who thinks that

david he looks like a jack-o-lantern i was

like oh that's good i like that because

it's so true it really is

so will's like oh yeah you know it's

just like used to work here and i

was sleeping with her and she's like used

to what what happened are we having fun

aren't we having fun isn't that like a

thing that we're doing but again she asked

she asked him why i stopped and he

again yes you know i really don't know

like i had no real idea why anything

has happened with me and alicia which is

true because alicia cannot

confronts him about the truth.

She cannot say what she's really feeling,

what she's really thinking.

When she broke up with him,

the first time,

she kind of left him in a lurch.

It was just like, yeah,

I just can't do it.

It's like, okay.

It's not really a good...

answer or a good reason and again she

left she broke up with him basically again

by just totally ghosting him at the at

the firm and he's like i don't know

why that even happened he got kind of

a clue from owen so he kind of

does know how it happened you know he

found that out last episode he's like yeah

i really still don't know what why we

broke up why she left the firm i

am in the dark which is which is

alicia's fault it really is

It is because he at least wanted to

have the talk he called.

He, you know,

wanted to do these things and she ignored

him so that she could make this firm.

Yeah, Alicia kind of sucks, you know,

because, like, he has been trying.

He has twice left her voicemails

professing his love to her,

and she has just kind of, like,

left him hanging and out to dry several

times.

Kind of sucks.

I mean, I agree.

I would say, also, Isabel also sucks,

because who says I'm made of chocolate?

Who says that?

I mean, Isabel's just having a fun time,

okay?

Like, don't

harsh isabel's buzz okay okay that's right

that's fine i just i don't know i

like how we'll just kind of silence her

like but we're having fun right like yeah

we're having fun let's make out let's

let's let's make out some more uh let's

go skiing later right forget all about

this

So we're in immigration court now,

and Alicia is arguing the fact that, like,

this is the asylum pitch, right?

Like, she's like, look,

we're claiming asylum for him.

And the ASA is like,

don't you have to be part of, like,

a group that's facing persecution in a

recognized group by the United States?

So it can't just be, like,

any group that's facing persecution.

It has to be a group that the

United States seems worthy enough for

asylum.

Like, race, gender, disability,

one of these things.

and so Alicia goes he is uh-huh the

group of snitches and so they have an

article from a professor that says like

niches are a protected group uh and the

answer is like funny thing about that like

he didn't actually he didn't actually

snitch

So how can he be part of this

group?

As this is happening,

Natalie gets a call from Will.

Will is making this call while Isabella is

dressing herself and also throwing herself

at Will.

And Will is trying to get Natalie's

business.

And Natalie says, okay,

I'll think about it.

Because things are not looking great in

this situation here.

Literally sees Carrie and Alicia

semi-arguing.

She's like, yeah,

maybe things aren't going as great here.

back at the loft uh alicia and carrie

are trying to figure out okay like what

group can we put them in right like

if it's not snitches what group can we

put them in and then uh new carry

says blood feud like what about a blood

feud like that that should work that

should that should happen and they're like

yeah it could work but like we don't

have any evidence i was like we could

Robin, a.k.a.

the Terminator, is like,

I'll take care of it.

Don't worry about it.

And, like, she just walks off.

Like,

she's really trying to be Kalinda at this

point.

She's like,

I don't need to tell you my plan

because you know that I have it.

Like, actually,

we don't because we kind of really don't

know you.

Like, you're not Kalinda.

We don't have confidence you're really

going to get us.

You kind of need to tell us your

plan.

And also, it's also semi-mixed with, like,

because earlier when Robin was talking to

Carrie, he's trying to, like,

give her an attagirl.

She, like,

just hangs up the phone on him.

He's like, also,

I heard you want to fire me.

So I don't really want to talk to

you right now.

So F you,

I'll just take care of this myself.

Like, okay.

And Carrie goes, you notice,

you notice everyone's changing all of a

sudden.

What's that about?

Like, what do you mean?

And Alicia's like, yeah, totally.

Right.

Totally.

Totally.

Back at the governor's office,

Marilyn talks to Peter about Eli and

Natalie.

She's like, look,

like this could be a thing,

but then I hate this.

I hate this because Peter is the worst

because Marilyn is having her like

episodes of pregnancy and she's like i

just i just hate being weak and peter's

like you're not weak let me sit down

right next to you and talk to you

and she's like oh i just and she

makes she makes some noises okay did you

hear those noises she makes some noises

while she's looking for her pop tarts and

she can't find her pop tarts and he's

like no that's not good i'm like you

are a little too close a little they

share like a middle second of a look

and i was like oh no

It's bad.

It's bad because when she explains the

fact that Natalie could be an outside

influence to make decisions that get to

the governor's office, he is like,

I understand.

And I will look into it.

It's like in a weird,

flirty way that he says it.

Yeah.

At this point, I was like,

I think Marilyn might be playing up these

pregnancy sicknesses to make her...

I mean, listen,

I'm all for

women using things that are usually looked

down upon to their advantage.

So love that for you, Marilyn.

But I don't love it because it's giving,

it's Peter.

Just like, oh my gosh,

he's falling for it.

And he's giving her the look.

I was like,

let me find out Peter has some like

pregnancy kink.

I was like, weird.

But, you know, but Marilyn also just,

this is the snitch episode.

Marilyn's out here snitching on Eli.

Like,

maybe um it's it's a thing with eli

and his personal life influencing him to

influence you like peter you're now

getting influenced by someone by by

maryland so you can't really be uh on

eli's case do you think that emily from

survivor watched this episode before she

went on the island so that she could

tell everybody everybody information

Oh, yeah.

Emily Flipit.

Yeah, Emily Flipit is flipping everybody.

She's snitching on everybody in the Sea of

the Survivor.

You can't tell her a damn thing because

she will tell the next person she sees

about what you just told them.

Without any protection.

She has no snitch visa.

She has no nothing.

She's just doing her thing.

It's a problem.

It's a problem.

Not many times does a reality show mess

bleed into real life.

But if I ever saw Emily Flip and

I had something to tell her,

I would not tell her anything about my

personal life.

Oh,

I'd have to listen to the post game

to see what she was actually doing.

But okay.

So there's that weird moment.

Robin is going and planting the LC bullet

at Tomas I's house to make this case

happen, which is, you know, like a crime,

but very Kalinda-y.

And then, okay.

Diane and Kalinda are the people that they

decide need to confront Howard for how he

acted with Natalie.

Yeah.

listen at least it's giving kalinda

something to do because i feel like ever

since we've had this edict about juliana

and archie yeah they have really

underwritten kalinda and it's really

starting to show i'm just like oh my

god like this is so annoying they used

to give her so much to do and

i was just like oh now she's barely

in this episode like only at only

servicing the stories of other people by

having a story herself

And we don't even get to see her

investigate.

Like,

she's done investigation for Diane when

she was doing the Supreme Court stuff,

but we don't see her, like, do it.

We just see her report stuff.

It's kind of like the coroner on Elsbeth.

Like, we never see it.

Yeah, I mean,

we had a little bit last episode with

the whole, you know, half-brother,

go get the gum.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But we used to have, like, every episode,

we used to have, like,

some Kalinda moments,

and now it's just very few and far

between this season.

yeah howard is like look at least i

didn't tell natalie to clean my office

okay like i understand how this has gotten

and also like i just think that natalie

this is i'm quoting the show i just

think that natalie is a little bit touchy

maybe she's a lesbian she's no he says

he says this one

is touchy.

Yeah, that's right.

Oh, gross.

Maybe she's a lesbian.

And Kalinda, she's not a lesbian.

I would tell.

I would know.

She's not a lesbian.

And then it's like, okay, fine,

I'll apologize.

What do you want me to say?

And Kalinda's like,

I think she would love to hear that

you think she's smart and intelligent.

And Howard's like, and not a sexy tamale.

Oh, at this point, I don't understand.

Why would they let Howard talk to anybody?

Like,

I understand we need Howard because we can

use him for votes.

He's very easily manipulatable.

Manipulatable?

Is that a word?

Manipulated.

But, like, lock him in an office.

Like, don't let him talk to anyone.

Or have him work remote and call him

in when you need him.

Yeah.

I mean,

he wouldn't understand how to work the

laptop to work remote.

Well, he wouldn't need to.

He would just, like...

work remote.

You know what I mean?

Yeah,

like chain him to a desk or something

and just only talk to him when you

need him.

Don't let him talk to anyone.

Yeah, no, that's bad.

That's bad.

Pili?

Pili?

No.

remember he's like Eli anyway Peter talks

to Eli about the speech and Eli's like

no I just you know like I think

it's important that you like talk talk

about it and Peter's like why is this

so important to you right now like why

I need to know and he believes in

in this like it's so gross it's so

I need to know that I can trust

you like you can't trust this man by

now Peter like you really you really can't

don't let anyone use you or me um

And Eli is like, uh, excuse me, Marilyn?

What the frick?

Like, why are you doing this?

Come to me.

You don't have to go to Peter.

But Peter, like, really... Get stitches.

Or deported.

Depending on where we are.

Alicia is in court again,

arguing blood feud, basically saying that,

you know,

these families are at war and that the

ASA is like, yeah,

like that works for some countries,

but like, you know, this isn't like a,

like Montague's and Capulet type of

situation.

This is a,

they hate him because he almost snitched.

He almost snitched.

We almost got you.

We almost got you.

We almost got you.

So he snitched.

Almost.

Almost.

Carrie then presents the bullet as

evidence.

And he's like, this is clearly a threat.

And the judge is like, okay.

okay it's like okay but um the best

we can do is a t visa for

this we can't this is not no longer

an asylum claim this is a t visa

not an s visa which is the snitchy

one t one and a thing about that

is i can't hear that here you're gonna

have to go talk to an immigration

caseworker so they find an immigration

caseworker yeah

I love this judge.

I don't know if we've seen this judge

before.

The Bob Dylan obsessed judge.

He wants to quote Bob Dylan.

He's like, you know what Bob Dylan said?

When someone says you're in the wrong

place, my friend, you better leave.

That's my Bob Dylan.

I've never listened to Bob Dylan.

I've only heard people imitate Bob Dylan.

So that was like what I've heard people

imitate.

Pretty good.

pretty good they find a caseworker walking

down the hall basically and she's like

listen i can only do this for mrs

reese and his son like i can't do

this for tomas himself and she's like i'm

sorry we have rules carrie loses it at

this point he's like your rules are out

of and not the year the book

it's like wow who put a quarter in

carrie oh my god that's what i think

it's like it was like like fluffing up

his social justice-ness i think a little

bit so um that he's upset about this

whole thing natalie at this point is like

hey will remember how you said you talked

to me i'm totally gonna take you up

on that so she goes to lockhart gardner

howard is prepared to apologize um he says

i'm so sorry for my remarks i had

just received news that a colleague died

and so i couldn't handle myself

appropriately and natalie's so gracious

she's like oh okay that's fine and will

and diana there will did welcome natalie

to lg thanks for giving lg another chance

uh at this point she brings in her

boss she's like hey i'd like you to

meet my boss joe who happens to be

a black man

and howard howard howard thinks he knows

the handshake jason he's like hey what's

up my brother my man oh my god

and then you can just be like diane

and will are like oh my god we

don't see what happens in the meeting at

that point but i i assume it just

did not go very well after that point

still on a mission to save the world

uh robin goes to the mexican consulate and

says hey okay you got that we got

this guy on a bus he's being sent

back to mexico but the thing you don't

know about him is one his name is

tom i second of all he's a con

man who specializes in air bag broad it's

just like airbag airbag like really it's

like literally as two different words she

says a very funny

And I can't believe this is what they're

doing.

The United States,

instead of taking care of him for

yourself, sending him back to Mexico.

But remember,

you have the opportunity not to accept him

at the border.

And that's what happens.

They turn him away at the border.

Robin, like...

goes back to the loft and has this

conversation with carrie it's like way to

save us basically he's like she's like

yeah that's my job he's like yeah keep

doing your job and she's like okay i

guess i did that awesome

Alicia does tell Natalie.

Natalie is not there.

She's at dinner waiting for Eli.

She gets the information.

She's like, oh, that's so great.

She hangs up the phone.

She orders two glasses of wine and then

she gets a phone call from Eli.

go back to the robin thing real quick

i i did love that i love that

maneuvering she basically used the the uh

immigration's thing against them be like

all right well you you said this is

the guy that you you have so i'm

using that because the guy that you you

had that you wanted was the the fraud

guy so i'm going to use that to

like influence the the uh the consulates

not to not let him i was like

oh that's very very smart like robin

really

She really did the damn thing.

She really did.

She really did.

She did step up.

She did it.

But yes, back to Natalie and dinner.

Natalie, first of all,

I love how she ordered.

She's like,

I'll have two glasses of this one.

Which is relatable.

So she gets a call from Eli and

Eli's like,

just i can't make it tonight like i'm

not going to be able to make it

because we canceled the speech and like

everyone's here and natalie's like yeah

you know you're like the first line of

defense like you got to be there i

get it i get it they're so so

lucky to have you all the stuff eli's

like oh this sucks but why safe the

man is calling from outside of the

restaurant and watching natalie have this

conversation the call is coming from

outside the restaurant

It's just so sad.

And then he decides, F it.

I'm just going to walk in.

And he walks in and she's like, what,

what, what's going on?

He's like, I couldn't, I was,

I was being dumb.

Like I couldn't do that.

And then he goes in for the kiss

and then she kisses her back.

And so yay, they're together.

I don't know what they're doing,

but they're there.

They're having their moment.

They're having a moment.

I gotta assume they had a fun time

that night.

Hopefully.

Hopefully they got they got the damn thing

going.

And like,

I can just imagine the whole time that

Eli's like on his way to this restaurant.

He's like, No, I'm not gonna go.

I'm not gonna do it.

Like, you know, I gotta do it.

I gotta go.

So back and forth the whole time.

He's probably coming there.

Like now he's now he's at the window

about to go to us.

You're like, No.

Can't do it.

He's like, actually, I will do it.

I will be Big Bad Eli and do

this thing.

Well, and he does say, like...

i lie for my job every single day

it's a skill actually it's great i'm great

at it it's it's fun but lying to

you sucked and i couldn't do it anymore

so i think that is like the thing

that got him forward and into this which

situation like eli i think you could date

this woman i think you could i think

it's not going to be a big problem

to separate you know

relationship from from job like i don't

think she was here either anymore she's in

washington yeah uh so it's like you know

it's going to be a long distance thing

uh i hope we get at least some

updates i don't think america ferrer is

going to be yeah a big recurring character

on the show i just i hope we

get some like you know i talked to

natalie last night i hope she just doesn't

go or like the way the dodo bird

or whatever i can't make it i can't

make it this weekend i'm going to

washington dc you know like something like

that

yeah something so alicia's alone in the

loft she turns on music with that speaker

from that killer man remember yeah uh she

turns on the music she's opens her office

chair this is a moment when you get

a good office chair you got to give

it a spin you know like it's just

part of the part of the rules so

she's there she spins we hear the ding

of the elevator

Peter and his posse are here,

including Marilyn.

And Peter's like, this is so great.

Can we have an intern help unpack?

Marilyn's like,

I think we can convince the public that

this was, you know,

a good gesture by the governor or

whatever.

And then Peter's like,

you're going to change the world from

here, Alicia.

I was just like, what?

I bet on it.

And I'm like, where did this come from?

Is this because you're guilty that you had

your pop-tarts moment with Marilyn?

Like what is happening?

It's quite a lofty goal there, Peter.

Peter is literally flirting with Marilyn

as they're getting out of the elevator.

He's like,

I hope I didn't cross any ethical boundary

lines in the elevator there, Marilyn.

He's like, oh, Mr. President,

you pushed that button with so much

dignity.

He's like, oh, good,

because I want to press all of them.

And I was looking at Alicia as she

was looking at Marilyn and Peter.

I think there was a look of like,

why are y'all so cozy?

Like,

why is the head of the ethics board

always with you?

Accompanying my husband to visit me at

work?

I feel like that's not, like,

in the real world.

I feel like the head of the ethics

board wouldn't be traveling with Peter all

the time.

Like, it's odd to me.

Very odd.

that and alicia is like first of all

alicia's blinded because she's in this

power position right like she's not going

to dwell on anything that she sees and

she's like also i don't want to admit

to myself that i still love will so

we're going to do all this stuff but

this is the pattern we have seen with

peter anytime he gets close to maryland

there is some sort of

declaration of something that is a little

too much so like the last time it

was he like was looking at Marilyn in

the office or something like that that

she's he's like hey so we should go

to Hawaii and renew our vows and like

he literally had to run he had to

run to court to talk to Alicia like

because he he was getting such a hard-on

for real he's like I gotta I gotta

fix this yeah

And then, like, in this instance,

it's not, like,

congratulations on the firm.

This looks great.

I'm so excited for you.

It's, like,

you're going to change the world.

The whole world.

Like, from here.

From this t-shirt loft.

This is what's going to happen.

And it just seemed a little out of

place.

But that's where the episode ends,

which is also kind of, like,

a weird point.

I thought, like,

it ending on the Eli thing would have

been cooler, but...

anyway that was the last so we are

a month out from the split from the

schism um and i think we are done

with our time marked episodes because the

next one is not titled the next year

um but we've got we've got a loft

We got some office space.

We're in business.

A while ago,

you had wanted to track the W's and

the L's.

Who do you think is winning at this

point?

Oh, F.A.

definitely got the win this episode.

Yeah, I think so too.

From what I'm understanding,

I don't think LG got the lobbyist account.

Howard.

Thanks, Howard.

Thanks a lot.

I think Alicia winning this for Natalie

and Tomas wasn't necessarily a win because

they didn't really win anything in court,

but it was just like,

we saved your friend.

like so like you make sure you you

know mention that when you're when you

have people that are actually going to pay

us to uh that they're looking for lawyers

so i think it's definitely honest

Robin did it.

Oh yeah, Robin was the MVP.

Yeah, they just did all the talking,

but Robin is the one that really...

This is what they've been saying over and

over again.

Kalinda wins cases, Kalinda wins cases.

This is a win for Robin.

And so this is the first time that

the FA team has had to be a

team, sort of.

You can really also say Kalinda kind of

won this, because without Kalinda's...

Pep talk.

I don't know if Robin would have gotten

into this new Terminator mindset of Robin

that she's going to do whatever it takes

to get the win.

And also whip out Kalinda's tutelage.

Yeah, exactly.

She would have had an example to pull

from.

I want to take too much away from

Robin.

Robin is definitely the MVP.

Robin got the win.

You know,

it was talked about the fact that,

you know, hey, Kalinda wins cases.

Robin doesn't win cases.

Robin has made herself useful,

not even just here.

But like, I remember in like,

it was the last episode,

the episode before last, she's like,

it was the gun thing where she's like,

well, how about breach of warranty?

He's like, oh,

like several times they've had to look at

Robin like, oh, okay.

Like that was actually good.

So, you know,

I don't know where this whole conceit of

Robert doesn't do anything came from.

Well, it's just not Kalinda.

That's I think what they're saying.

Yeah.

She will forever be compared to Kalinda.

But good on her.

Yeah, I do think definitely F.A.

got the win this week.

Do you think they're ahead overall?

No, no, not overall.

They still have work to do.

They got it.

They want to battle this episode,

but the war is still raging.

And, you know,

LG are the big guys in the war.

So it's going to take a bit to

really bring them down because they still

even though they lost this little battle,

they're still opening offices in New York.

So.

are going to be LGNY.

Yeah, they're still kind of thriving,

which is interesting that we got the New

York offices set up so fast.

But in the second season,

we were talking about,

we're going to make Chicago,

we're going to make, what was it?

Baltimore offices.

We're going to make New York offices,

but it was taking a long time to

make that happen.

But we got this done in a month.

Like, hey, everybody, guess what?

We're going to have new New York offices.

I mean, go skiing, I guess,

if you want to have that done.

skiing gets you a lot of extra time

to do a lot of extra stuff to

really get to work.

Yes, that was the episode.

Good episode overall.
